Ivan Maxwell was the second runner-up in the small bikini contest, Tropical Bodies 2007, held last summer at Lips Bar. Tropical Bodies featured the contestants in tacky-thin underwear or bikini, which competition was eventually won by a diminutive mestizo in a buzz cut, Xavier Manahan. Twenty-one-year-old Ivan Maxwell lists his profession as a freelance model, stands 5’10” and is a native of Nueva Vizcaya province.
Twenty-six year old Cherubim Tito “Bim” Cecilio, who is one of Manila’s top male mods, is apparently chucking his runway and ad career in favor of a business venture in his native Albay province. Details are sketchy, but the 5’10”-tall stunning model has lately been nowhere within the klieg and footlights of Manila’s fashion world. He will be sorely missed then, as Bim was one of the very few Filipino male models who are professionals and well-educated.
He is the latest model of Hanford underwear. Thomas Kiupel has been modeling for quite some time now, and it is only recently that he has been noticed in the metro. Maybe he’s some German-Filipino model, with roots from Zamboanga City. Or Austrian, perhaps. Nevertheless, with the looks, height and bod, Thomas Kiupel is very much welcome in this part of the globe.
I had a terrible day today. Let me just vent my ire on “A Love Story“, Aga Muhlach‘s latest movie with Maricel Soriano and Angelica Panganiban. Let’s see, Maricel is the mistress, Angelica is the real wife, and Aga is the callous and self-righteous rich guy with a lisp and dimples. Maricel’s character is an Ob-Gyne, supposedly a strong woman willing to be a mistress to Aga’s character. Angelica’s role is a flight attendant who can easily disrobe by the pool and then hide her cute little flabs in loose Puccis. And, as regards Aga’s character – I don’t know what he does, but he is freakin’ rich – I do not have sympathies for, because it was obviously written for a gruff, egotistic and merciless actor. I liked Aga better in, say, Sa Aking Mga Kamay where he played a naturally-toned serial killer [in a buzz cut] who gets to murder Chin Chin Gutierrez with an ax [incidentally, Chin Chin is also in A Love Story as a sniveling older sister]. Or maybe as Kring Kring Gonzales’s boyfriend who gratuitously shows his buttocks and some portion of his nuts in Ang Katawan ni Sofia . The only saving grace of the movie are the women’s costumes and designer bags, and of course, a shirtless surgically-manipulated Aga Muhlach in True Religions and Sevens, size 36.
Martin Jickain is all over the papers these days, in advertisements for the non-invasive slimming method of Marie France for Men. His pictures with a big tummy, like his wife, are also plastered in the ad campaign, where he proclaims he lost 30 lbs. and counting. It’s a good thing he’s decided to lose the extra baggage, although he still looks a bit plumpish. For now, photo above will remind us how he looked gorgeously slim and fab a few years back, when he was still single.
That’s gorgeous Brazilian model Bruno, who is now part of SOP’s new boyband, Showboys. Apparently, Showboys is the replacement of Take 5, which did not take off. The cast are still there – Hansen, Joseph, Rey and Carlos, with the exception of Douglas who is nowhere to be seen. Bruno is the addition to the group, and the boyish model who has done several ad campaigns in the Philippines already, seems to have assimilated himself well into the band. The group performs every Sunday on GMA 7’s noontime show, SOP.
Arcie [left] and RC?
In case you are wondering who that guy is in the billboards of the first 24-hour gym in the Metro, Eclipse Fitness Center, his name is Arcie Saco. You wouldn’t miss the guy with the great abs and, uh, great abs, in the banners of the gym, which has branches along Mabini Street in Manila and Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City. An IT and computer engineering graduate of Cebu’s University of San Carlos, Arcie Saco is also a fitness coach. I’m just wondering now if he is the same guy RC who competed in the male-ploitation bash, Boylets, a couple of years ago. The boys there were naked on stage or wearing flimsy material called underwear [see photo above].
Probably a Brazilian teen model who came to our shores a couple of years back. When he was in town, Rovane Derecho graced the fashion pages of local female mags Preview, Metro and Mega and the gay magazine MetroHim. Here’s a photo of the guy, before he totally shaved his curly locks and fled town for greener pastures abroad.
No doubt this moreno hunk was the most daring member of Provoq-forebear, The Viva Hotmen. Cebu-native Mcmeil Dennison, who claims he’s half-Irish, is also the most toned guy in his batch – with 8-pack abs to boot. Prior to his Viva stint, McMeil was the product of several bikini contests such as Beach Bodies [winner] of IBC-13, Hunks and Babes in Bikinis Contest [winner], Mr. and Ms. Sexy Body [second place], and Manhunt-Philippines 2004 [3d RU]. During the CD launch of the Viva Hotmen’s first video at the Island Cove Resort in Cavite, McMeil tore his t-back bikini and threw it at the audience. His episode in the video was the most watched as he stayed under the waterfalls in flimsy white skivvies. Also, he did a homo-erotic male massage-in-the-shower scene with fellow member, Ethan Zulueta. Lustfully missed, where’s McMeil Dennison these days?
The newest image model for local underwear brand Hanford Ice is 20-year old British-Filipino athlete Phil Younghusband. Phil, together with older brother James [ turning 21 this September], first came to the Philippines in June 2005 to scrimmage with the national football team. From then on, they played for Team Philippines in football events in the region, notably the ASEAN Games and the ASEAN Cup. Phil played for Chelsea’s reserve team and is now waiting word from Los Angeles Galaxy in US Major League Soccer.
