TGIF and Travis Kraft!

Beefcake Travis Kraft is back again. The 28-year-old native of Bismarck, North Dakota represented the US in the 2007 Mister World contest in Sanya, China. He has appeared in countless print and tv ads in the country, after coming over to test the waters in showbiz. Apparently, he has Filipino blood in him: his mom is a Filipina based in the US. The 6’1″-tall hunk has also done B-movies in Hollywood.

Who is Victor Aliwalas?

At the screening of director Roni Bertubin’s new movie, the pre-program was Marimar, the highest-rating primetime show on tv today. Suddenly, on screen, this guy appears as the lawyer Adrian, and everyone in the room just stares and wonders who the guy with the American accent is. His name is Victor Aliwalas, 23 years old, born to Filipino parents in Ohio and raised in New York. When he came home last year for a visit, he was discovered by an agent and got signed up as one of the exclusive talents of GMA Artist Center [along with Ryan “Rye” Farinas]. He was a power lifter back in school and a bartender in New York. Photos above were taken during the Cosmopolitan [Phils] Bachelor Bash 2007. So there, direk Roni, request granted.

Happy V Day!

Happy Singles Awareness Day, as some would put it. A day of exchanging roses and boxes of chocolate can cause feelings of loneliness for singles. But celebrate anyways. Stay home nekkid, drink wine, smoke cigarettes and buy red roses for yourself, just like what Jay-M Rodriguez is doing [23 years old, part-time model, bikini open contestant]. It wouldn’t be too much of a hassle, what with the traffic and the crowd outside. After all, February 14 is just another day.

If You Forget Me

Photo: Andro Morgan and Richard Lopez

This is from one of my drippy-favorite poems by Pablo Neruda, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Yes, I believe in the myth of V-Day, if you ask me. And my wish to you all: May you find peace despite your circumstances this Valentine‚Äôs Day!

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine

“Antonio” regular screening

The “boldest gay film in Philippine history,” Ang Lihim ni Antonio [Antonio’s Secret] will be screened starting today at the Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Bacolod and Eden Theater in Cebu. It’s the story of Antonio [played by newcomer Kenjie Garcia] who is sexually obsessed with his Uncle Jonbert [ Josh Ivan Morales]. The tale spirals to tragic consequences, as the coming-of-age yarn twists and turns in the end. The movie is from the direction of Jay Altarejos and screenplay by Lex Bonife of Ang Lalake sa Parola.

WITWI: Gary Ysrael

Where in the world is Gary Ysrael? He’s a former member of the GMA-7 afternoon teen show, That’s Entertainment. Noted for his good looks and strong sex appeal, Gary Ysrael was being groomed then for leading man status. Unfortunately, he dropped out of showbiz after his stint in the ABS-CBN afternoon soap Marinella. Now, the former actor is at the Regional Training School 4 [Philippine Public Safety College] at Camp Guillermo Nakar in Lucena City, training as a policeman. He says he wants to pursue his dream of becoming a policeman.

Arvin Macu is Mr. Sexy Body 2008

Summer came in early last Saturday, 9 February, at the Brick Road, East Wing Carpark of Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, when Arvin Macu won this year’s first bikini open title, Mr. Sexy Body. The annual event sponsored by the mall pitted Arvin, who used the name Andrei Allen during the contest, against 14 other hunks that included Christian Navesis [runner-up], Dave Concepcion, Abel Jimeno, Patrick Rivera and James Ereza. Arvin went home with over P50,000.00 worth of cash, gift certificates and other prizes.

Anton Bernardo against Danny Ramos

Remember Anton Bernardo, the 90’s sex symbol who worked his way through the sex flicks back then? Well, he is back and raring to tell his story in Japan as an entertainer. Currently, Anton is in the new GMA series Joaquin Bordado, and his resurgence in showbiz comes with his tell-all about his exploits in Nagoya as a bartender. He said he was with Leandro Baldemor, Toffee Calma, Justin Cuyugan, Gerald Madrid and Ralion Alonso in Japan. He also revealed that erstwhile sexy actor Danny Ramos [right photo], duped him into working for Santaro Club [owned by Danny’s rich Japanese wife]. Anton reportedly got less than what was agreed upon for two months work in said club. Nevertheless, Anton is raring to face the cameras again. In fact, he is also in a Viva Digital movie entitled Torotot [Destierro].

Antonio’s Secret is Out!

Ang Lihim ni Antonio [Antonio’s Secret] had a successful premiere recently at the UP Film Institute. The uncut version of the “boldest gay film in Philippine history” was screened to an SRO crowd. It stars newcomer twinkie Kenjie Garcia and Josh Ivan Morales aka Maico Eduria [in photo] of Provoq . On 13 February, the movie will have its regular run at the Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Bacolod and Eden Theater (Cebu). I’m wondering, Lex, if the uncut version will be shown in those theaters, too?

Come-Hither: Geoffrey Taylor

Geoffrey Taylor was a former model who made waves at the Pinoy Dream Academy reality show last year. The 21-year-old native of Tuguegarao, Cagayan Valley was a finalist at the 2006 Mossimo Bikini Summit [won byJerome Ortiz with runner-up Hermann Weber]. Many thought that his entry into the Dream Academy show would pave the way for this budding singer, what with his height [5’11” tall] and looks [his father is American]. Unfortunately, he was eliminated during the contest and not much happened to him, except for minor gigs in concerts. He was last seen at the major concert of one of the PDA runners-up last week, where he reportedly got P10,000.00 gratuitously from an admiring gay fan in the audience.
