Bayaw Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big day for the erotic brothers-in-law movie, you know, the one called Bayaw. It stars Paolo Rivero and Janvier Daily in their “daring-est” and “boldest” roles. That’s not a hardsell, actually, because the in-law roles are the most audacious so far for these two guys who will do the penis-shots, not fleeting but more on lingering. I think tickets are still available for the premiere tomorrow at the CCP Little Theater at 9 pm. [The producer, Climax Films says 34 seats are still available as of yesterday morning]. The movie’s regular run [read: might be sanitized under the MTRCB] starts 2 September 2009 at the Robinsons Galleria Indiesine.

Twenty-two-year-old Ryan Cabradilla got the surprise of his bikini-contest life when he was proclaimed as the winner in last summer’s Mr. Ilocandia Bikini Open, the biggest swim- and underwear competition up North. The La Union native bested the veteran models who came all the way from Manila to take a crack at the big cash prizes. Ryan Cabradilla looks like a cross between actor Alfred Vargas and contest regular Dexter Castro, if you ask me.

He is a familiar face in the personality contest circuit. Bryan Soriano was recently seen as one of the contestants in Ginoong Pilipinas 2009, and I think he landed one of the runner-up positions. He then went on to join the minor competitions in bars and hotels and town halls. He is quite cute, dark and beefy in some ways. Expect to see him more next season when the cute guys hop from one bikini open to another with the hope of getting reasonable deals in their modeling and showbiz careers.

With the launching of Aljur as a prime time soap star and lead actor in a big movie, suddenly Mark Herras is so 2004. Mark, the erstwhile teen star and early favorite of GMA-7, is now relegated to the hazy background of afternoon soaps, provincial shows and Sunday noontime dance acts while Aljur takes center stage as the new star of his station. Methinks that GMA-7 should cash in on this emerging popularity of Aljur but should not altogether consign to oblivion its other talents who showed great potential as lead actors, like Mark. That way, GMA is beefing up the menu, so to speak.

The guy contemplating his future in his blue bikini is Jovell Rey Bautista, a 20-year-old Mr. Baliuag [Bulacan] 2009 winner. He seems cute and he needs to smile more. Plus the fact that he has the goods down there. Although he didn’t win the Mr. Bulacan title when he represented his home town, Jovell Rey is plodding on. Who knows, he might make it in the big city.

There is something sexy and appealing about AJ Ona, a 5’11”-tall student from Quezon province who has been very visible lately in them tiny thongs competitions in the metro. Even if he’s not strikingly handsome, there’s a certain oomph about him. Maybe it’s the great torso, with all the cuts and curves. Or the bulge showing great promise beneath the bikini. It could be the eyes, or the lips, making raw and savage projections. He might not be winning the contests but he is definitely making his mark.

Developing Aljur

It’s a good rainy Friday and I’m too drowsy and dopey to think about the post for this day. Except that I really wanted to put an image of Aljur again, the one where he wears shorts and shows off his new body in scenic Bohol. He’s nearly done shooting for his first major movie called I’ll Be Waiting For You. For his role as a farmer with nice skin and hair, he got a bit thinner, fit actually, with all the muscles in the right places. I’m thinking he’s being packaged for adult roles now. And a little showing of some skin helps a lot.

Male model Richard Lopez a.k.a. Randy del Rosario goes puckish and peculiar in this photo. The 27-year-old freelance model and bikini open vet was once rumored to be the last hunk who joined the very daring Men of Provoq. Unfortunately the group disbanded before Richard Lopez can show his, uh, endowment. Talent or natural capacity, I mean. He is still very much around – in fashion shows and in some competitions of the bikini variety as he is tall with a nice bod.

And then there were two…

Cute boy Dex Quindoza is no longer part of the the boy-group YM [Young Men]. That leaves young stud Edgar Allan Guzman and freshman Andrew Miguel as members of the new band, although the YM management might add new ones pretty soon. Sources say that Dex was asked by GMA Artist Center to quit YM and venture instead as a solo artist because of some huge potential as a singer and actor. Yet, people close to YM state that Dex was actually dropped because he’s getting “too hot to handle.” Whatever the reasons are, here’s hoping that the guys get to have booming careers in showbiz. And I’m being nice today.

Little Boy/Big Boy preems

The new gay movie to hit town – Little Boy/Big Boy is set to premiere on 30 July 2009 at Cinema 5 of Robinsons Galleria [6.30 p.m. for the meet-and-greet with the cast and 7.30 p.m. screening]. This is a happy and heartwarming tale about two men – played by gay-indie-flick fave Paolo Rivero and sexy actor-model Douglas Robinson – and how they raise a little boy together. According to the movie info, this will be Douglas Robinson’s “most revealing performance.” Little Boy/Big Boy is from the pioneering Parola and Antonio tandem of screenwriter Lex Bonife and director Joselito Altarejos.
