Derek and Coco together

There’s a small movie, actually an episode of ABS-CBN’s drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya shown last week, that got the guys raving about the story and the actors. Entitled Boarding House, the episode starred the unlikely pair of Derek Ramsay [left] and Coco Martin. Since this one’s on primetime tv, there was no obligatory sex scene in the gay plot. In the episode, Derek is a straight man who has a history of sexual abuse, while Coco is the quiet gay guy. It’s a pretty interesting story as narrated by well-meaning friends who got to watch it. I just hope there’s a replay pretty soon.

TITI!! AT MARAMI PANG TITI!!

  2. Kahit nga sa States napanood ko ‘to! Yay! Magaling nga, di perfect (may scenes na corny), pero it was better than average. As usual, ang GALING ni Coco. Derek is surprisingly really good. There’s a part there where he says, “Gamitin mo ako!” OMG! Ultimate fantasy. Now I wish these 2 would get more work, not that horrible actor Gerald Anderson. (Sorry!) ABS-CBN: DVD! DVD! DVD!

  3. I cried a river watching this. It was a beautiful and moving story. Coco Martin can really deliver and Derek has come of age in his acting. The letter sender (Coco) has put the gay people image in a good light. I wish they would follow up what happened to the character of Derek after they parted ways. Paging the researchers at ABS-CBN it will not hurt if you will look for him. Congrats for the nice story. I wish to see more of this kind.

  4. bow aketch sa episode na toh, just goes to show na hindi kailangang maghubad to tell a beautiful gay story! aabangan ko toh sa dvd, sana marelease as part of one of those MMK compilations.

  6. Yeah, it was a nice story and what a dream pairing of Coco and Derek diba?

Nakakaakit si Derek kay Coco eh. “Pwede mo akong gamitin” sabay alisin ng towel. Whew. Hehe.

It’s better to be straight because we can have a happy ending in our relationship, pero gay? No way. Kaya hayun, pag gay, nega.

For chrissakes, marami na ngayong gay relations that work and the two lovers live happily–maybe not ever after. But if one can have a happy relationship, gay or straight, even if only for a brief moment, it’s all worth it.

Pati gay TV? Hmph!

  8. Anonymous 3:33, agreed. Mixed feelings about this. I remembered pala, one of the lines started with “KAHIT bakla siya …” KAHIT?!?!? And the funny thing is Derek’s character was trying to compliment Coco’s.

  9. SALAMAT TO ABS CBN FOR GIVING COCO MARTIN THAT ROLE.. TALAGANG ANG GALING NIYA!! grabEh..

PAGING ABS-CBN, MORE ON COCO MARTIN PLEASE..

  10. I LOVE COCO MARTIN. From Masahista to Condo to Daybreak to Tambolista to Tirador to Serbis. And now, this wonderful episode in MMK.

  11. Coco Martin, mahal na kita. You’ve evolve from a studlet to an actor. Humanga ako sa tempered acting mo. Non of the histrionics. Bravo! I luv you!

  12. I saw the episode yesterday at Youttube. The story itself was just so-so. Derek was really great in portraying his role. When I saw the episode I was really amazed by how Derek portrayed his role. He was not the typical Derek in a teleserye, he was someone else that episode. Of course Coco Martin’s acting is so natural. We all know that the kid has a talent in acting, especially in gay themed movies. Overall, in a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the highest, I would rate it as 8.5.
