Piolo’s billboards go down

Top guy Piolo Pascual was in the news this morning.  His billboards along busy EDSA have all been taken down, due to what the Department of Public Works and Highways [DPWH] termed as “indecent images.”  The news report stated that among the twenty or so billboards that were detached and destroyed  were two images of the shirtless hunky actor for San Mig Coffee. I think the giant board of local clothing brand Bench in Guadalupe, Makati City  featuring the actor in a sexy pose akin to the image above was also cleared away. Too bad.

    bansang third world.

hayyy! are we in the dark ages?

  3. I think it has to do with the election that is coming, yup welcome to the 2010 dark ages election thingy.

    Thanks the angel for RD

  4. Anong bastos dun?

  6. Ay kayo naman…easy lang. Baka naman DPWH is just preparing for any tropical depression coming in the Philippine archipelago any time soon. Medyo high risk tong mga billboards na to. Or, one must admit, distracting tong images na to of Piolo for motorists hence it’s more of a “road danger” than “indecent images” (Remember: John Hall for Bench Body billboard at the Magallanes Interchange).

  7. I just passed Quirino Avenue via Osmena Highway and Piolo’s billboard is still up. Baka yung sa Guadalupe lang so everyone should “hold your horses” first. Bakit yung billboard ni Joem Bascon for F&H along C5 is still up? Yun ang road hazard—I almost fell off while driving through the bridge! But just the same…Ahlavhet!!!

  8. He is so old in this picture! look @ his hands medyo kulubot na! and i dont really like his nipple it looks like Genital Warts!

    peace!
    just an opinion..
    🙂

  9. may double standard talaga dito. bakit ang mga billboards na girls and models at naka lingerie or two-piece suit or plunging necklines e di nila tinatanggal? or mas nakaka distract pag lalaki ang models, as in, mas sex object talaga ang boys than girls ngayon?

  10. That’s crazy!! How the photos of practically naked girls scattered around!

Unbelievable, a shirtless man is “indecent?”

  11. piolo is so hot. unfair naman ang DPWH na yan. tinanggal na nga sa Cubao yung san mig coffee nya. hmpf

  12. Anonymous dated June 9, 2009 5:35PM, shame on you to call your country animal, i think mas appropriate sayo word na animal kasi dahil sa libido at kabaklaan mo kaya mong babuyin ang bansa mo, well what can i say to unlettered and stupid gay like you, try to go abroad and stay there for a while and you will realized how beautiful is country. BAKLA MANAHIMIK KA NALANG OKEY!

  13. good, get rid of all these tacky, cheap, THIRD WORLD bill boards. for the most part they are an eyesore, not to mention dangerous with all the typhoons this country gets every year. beautiful cities in the world don’t have these huge, cheap and tacky eyesores.

  14. On Monday, billboard operators dismantled outdoor advertisements deemed “indecent” by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Piolo Pascual’s shirtless — just no shirt, but with pants — ads was one of the first to go.

In a report by Marlon Ramos for the Inquirer:

(DPWH Assistant Director Armando)Estrella said in a statement that the operators of outdoor signages volunteered to take down the huge ads after “they realized that many people were against indecent and immoral billboards.”

“They were conscience-stricken,” he said, adding, “They fear the backlash in public opinion will affect the products they are endorsing.”

Okay. Please help me understand. A country that finds a shirtless dude in jeans “indecent” and “immoral” but has a population of 96 million, 40 percent of which are below the poverty line; has a Senate that conducts hearing on sex scandals between starlets; a Congress of a-holes.

Vote for me in 2010. I will make Piolo the centerpiece of my cultural renaissance program. Heck, I’ll put him in our P20, P50, P100, P500, P1,000 bills. I’ll engrave his abs on all our coins.

    pobre.

oo nga, yung sanado nakakahiya wala ng ginawa kundi makisawsaw sa ka showbizan at may pa imbistiga pa sa sex scandal????? huh

legislate for a good future for the masang pinoy istead. revilla, madrigal, estrada atbp… ang baho nyo.

  19. Well said Anonymous June 10, 2009 12:16 PM!

As with every issue in this country. It will also cool down and we can see those billboards with those images again pretty soon.

I hope they’re not doing this to make space for political ads for the elections.

  20. @ anonymous june 10 8:17 am:
GOOD IDEA….might as well….all of them including political ads with bad layouts and poorly styled pictures subjects that add so much visual noise.

  21. anong indescent dito?? topless nga lang eh.. andami kya nka topless sa paligid.. haha.. buti nga nkaside view pa.. khit bulge di mn lang nkita.. haay nako..

infairness saarap ng nipples nya.. haha

    –fishymark
