Onemig Bondoc is a hot papa!

I was watching tv earlier, and was surprised to hear that erstwhile teen idol and inactive actor Onemig Bondoc is now a father to a 6-month-old girl. The mother of the baby is Valerie Bariou, a French-Filipina freelance model who has done several TV commercial and print ads. According to the report, the baby was born in France and the couple [not yet married, though] stayed there for two months after the birth, before flying back to Manila where Onemig’s businesses are located. Sorely missed on tv and the big screen, the baby-faced actor [who is 30 years old] is now a full-fledged hot dad!

The ultimate sexy poster boy of the 90s era of skin flicks is back in town. Harold Pineda just came back from a four-year stint in the Land of the Rising Sun as a hosto or male entertainer. Harold Pineda, who last appeared in the 2002 movie Alyas Bomba Queen, started his career from winning the Ginoong Pilipinas title in 1998. From then on he was cast, sans clothes, in numerous sexy movies in his time.

Must Love Dogs

Joross Gamboa loves dogs.

John Archer, a psychologist at the University of Central Lancashire [Preston, UK], has been trying to figure out for some time why people love their pets. In evolutionary terms, love for dogs and other pets “poses a problem,” he writes. Being attached to animals is not, strictly speaking, necessary for human health and welfare. According to Archer, while it is true that studies show that people with pets live a bit longer and have better blood pressure than benighted non-owners, yet in the literal sense, we don’t really need all those dogs and cats to survive. Archer’s alternative Darwinian theory: Pets manipulate the same instincts and responses that have evolved to facilitate human relationships, “primarily (but not exclusively) those between parent and child.” Or, to look at it from the opposite direction, Archer suggests, “consider the possibility that pets are, in evolutionary terms, manipulating human responses, that they are the equivalent of social parasites.” Social parasites inject themselves into the social systems of other species and thrive there. Dogs are masters at that. They show a range of emotions—love, anxiety, curiosity—and thus trick us into thinking they possess the full range of human feelings.

Jon Mullally above water

Big Brother House resident Jon Mullaly revealed recently that he had an uncomfortable sense of belonging in England where he grew up. Emotionless, he was caught on cam revealing to a fellow resident that he did not feel welcome in England during his growing up years, that he always considered himself an outsider there, and that he wished he grew up here in the Philippines. Jon is finally loosening up inside the famous house. Maybe a little prodding from the other residents could push him to divulge more about his background, which – for now- has remained a mystery.

Leading Man: Rafael Rosell

After finally proving his worth as a serious actor, sans the annoying accent, Rafael Rosell is now elevated to leading man status. Rafael recently bagged the Supporting Actor plum at the film critics’ Gawad Urian for his role in the lesbian movie Rome and Juliet. In a recent interview, Rafael noted that after winning the award, the press is now interested in his body of work rather than asking him about his body [due largely to his Bench underwear contract].

Wendell Ramos accepts indecent proposals?

A few minutes ago at Showbiz Central on GMA 7, Bench-actor-with-the-flexed-butt Wendell Ramos was seated in a chair with electrodes attached to his fingertips, a blood pressure cuff on his arm, and a pneumatic tube strapped around his chest. In short, he was attached to a polygraph. The host asked him whether he has accepted any indecent proposals that came his way, and the actor answered “No.” The test results , however, showed that he was lying. For whatever it is worth, the lie detector test may or may not be conclusive. For sure, it will be a big issue against him though. After all, a lie detector, its proponents claim, records the “internal blushes” of a liar.

Dennis Trillo doesn’t go to the gym

New daddy Dennis Trillo is on the cover of this month’s Men’s Health [Philippines] magazine. He revealed that he does not go to the gym to develop his physique. He has his own DIY exercise regimen, which includes boxing for cardio, pushups and two sets of dumbbell exercises for his arms, chest and upper body. For the cover shoot, he did a month-long “100 pushups a day, 50 Arnold’s presses with 15-pound dumbbells, twenty pull-ups, and another twenty close-grips.” It looks like his routine did wonders for his diminutive frame.
