And I’m also curious, seriously curious, how and why Borgy Manotoc is an underwear model still for Bench Body, after all these years. Maybe he has a swimmer’s body. Perhaps it’s a package deal with his model-girlfriend. Or, the bargain-basement undergarments fit him perfectly well. I can only surmise.

Borgy’s Bulge

Hey look! Borgy Manotoc has a bulge and it’s showing in his latest ad campaign for Bench Body! In a magazine interview, the 29-year-old model and events host revealed that his most embarrassing moment at work was when he had to “stand around in my underwear all day.” He added, “but that happens almost every other day.” Hot enough?

The Year That Was: Resurgence

The year 2011 saw a lot of careers getting revived, each pump-primed to a second life and how! Topping the list is Derek Ramsay. After years of relative success, the hunky actor suddenly struck gold with the crazy box-office take of his third quarter movies, the campy drama No Other Woman and the inane comedy The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, the two highest-grossing Filipino flicks of 2011.

In runner-up position would have to be Dennis Trillo. After a series of bad luck [and bad press] in the past, Dennis got busy in 2011 – three movies and two tv soaps where he played leading man. Such feat, in retrospect, is unmatched by his peers in the industry.

Honorable mention [from the top, clockwise] – Brazilian model Hideo Muraoka disappeared after his hugely popular tighty-whities ad campaign for F & H and came back with a bigger bang as top model for leading department store SM. Actor Jericho Rosales, on a career slump for the past few years, is slowly getting back into lead actor position with new soaps and shows for ABS-CBN. Model Borgy Manotoc is suddenly all over the ubiquitous Bench Body boards in the metro, after retreating from the limelight for years.

Bikini boy Johnron Tanada who hastily left the Philippines for a Macau gig also re-appeared – still in fine come-hither form – and did a couple of daring indie flicks. GMA exclusive Mike Tan, after languishing in supporting-actor roles for years in the station, greatly benefitted from the Paulo Avelino departure and quickly grabbed prime roles. Brazilian model Daniel Matsunaga recovered from his past Bangkok scandal and quickly transitioned into doing TV, some movies and major TVC deals.

Body of Evidence

What if you didn’t know Borgy Manotoc. You are not aware about his family. You do not know about his politics. Heck, you have no idea that he has a reputation for being, er, vicious. What if you only know him as a lean young man, basking under the sun, in his cotton Bench Body briefs? Like in the image above. Would you lust for him this time?

Splendor in the Grass

Tv host and model Borgy Manotoc poses provocatively, in all his nekkid Bench Body splendor in the backyard grass. This one’s a nice pose, with his gooch nearly showing and scrotum outlined to its full form. Happy Friday everyone!

In case you noticed, it wasn’t all about the Philippine Azkals and PRFU Volcanoes. Bench Body came out with a Borgy Manotoc ad, too. This didn’t quite make it to EDSA or the major thoroughfares in the metro, but methinks this one’s quite safe and tame for a giant billboard. Right? No scandalous bulges and all?

At Play

In the Bench website advertising the opening show for the Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011 last Sunday, the warning goes – “For Adults Only Because of the Underware Segment.” That stayed on for quite some time without anyone correcting the spelling for the major underwear brand. In photo is Bench Body model Borgy Manotoc, who was one of the models yesterday in the show.
