Hermann, top man.

I was randomly going through some photos and this image of male model Hermann Weber came up.  The 2007 Mossimo Bikini Summit alum and runner-up [to Jerome Ortiz] is, arguably, one of the hottest models who ever came out. Yet, he is most scarce these days.  Last time I heard he was in this nice little movie called Kristo, a semi-finalist in the 2008 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.  Hopefully, he’ll make the big leap, too, from modeling to acting on tv and the movies one of these days, just like his contemporaries.

The latest on Hermann Weber

After my recent post on male-model-at-large Hermann Weber, a friend of the site, Barbarella, sent in the photos above and some info. Apparently, Hermann is in a new movie called Kristo, about the stories of a cockfighting bookmaker [kristo] and the “Maleldo”, a one-week commemoration of Holy Week in San Pedro Cutud [San Fernando, Pampanga], which event winds up with the actual nailing of penitents on wooden crosses on Good Friday. Kristo was a semi-finalist in the 2008 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival (full-length feature category), under the directorial debut of UP Film Institute’s Jerwin Espiritu. So there, Hermann is now an actor!

Hermann Weber under the sun

Under the blazing heat of the sun, male model Hermann Weber sizzles! The Filipino-German stunner, who has not been very visible in the modeling circuit lately, is surely missed and how! This is the season of the Mossimo Bikini Summit [Hermann was first runner-up in the 2006 edition], where top male mods compete for fame and fortune. Unfortunately, nothing much is heard from the organizers this summer if the annual event – usually held every April – will ever be staged.

Where is Hermann Weber?

Where is Hermann Gerhard Weber, that charming Mossimo Bikini Summit runner-up and male model? Apparently, he is busy with his studies – taking up a nursing course in his native Laguna. Which probably means he is not that busy with modeling these days, as he is contemplating on a career in the medical services field – abroad. The Filipino-German stunner, with a body to die for, is sorely missed, though.

Are mom jeans in fashion again?

They say they love my ass,
Seven Jeans, True Religion’s,
I say no, but they keep givin’
So I keep on takin’
And no I ain’t taken
We can keep on datin’
I keep on demonstrating.

Black Eyed Peas, My Humps

[Gasp] Are they in fashion again? I hope not. I saw a young woman wearing mom jeans [high-waisted, light colored and tapered jeans] last night going up to Piedra. I don’t care if it’s an 18th Amendment mom jeans, it just doesn’t hold right. Awful, awful. I still prefer the slim bootleg jeans. Or maybe the one featured in that popular billboard of Folded & Hung in EDSA with Mexican model Cedric Sandez in scandalously-low waist jeans. Guys just look sexy in those cuts – whether they are Bench or Rag & Bone. Bit of jeans anecdote: I used to date a modish guy who was raving about cheap but finely-crafted Vorve [?] jeans, supposedly a little-known denim store in Market!Market! Sure enough, his pants were the well-constructed ones, with perfect stitching, and I thought this local Vorve jeans must be really something. While he was taking a shower, I checked out his jeans; much to my surprise and awe – it was an Alexander van Slobbe, the one pair I couldn’t afford. We dated for two months.

Redux: Hermann Gerhard Weber

Organizers of the 2007 Mossimo Bikini Summit [Take it Underground] have finally raised the money for the venue. It will be held on 21 April at the NBC Tent in Bonifacio Global City. So all the fuss and mystery about taking it to an underground venue to accommodate a “reggaethon” was just plain puff to hide the real prob. All’s well for now.

I’m putting here not-in-any-set photos [sent in by a good friend who shall remain anonymous for now but do visit his site at http://malephotography.multiply.com/photos for more] of my favorite at last year’s contest: Hermann Gerhard Weber, who eventually finished first runner-up to Jerome Ortiz. People can’t seem to get enough of him [as I do] but he has lately been holed up in his suburban Laguna house, unless there are good projects in Manila. His latest appearance was a photoshoot with Icon magazine [the Jon Mullally cover] together with fellow hotties Jon, John Lopez and Rei de Castro.

Chiseled Chunk: Hermann Weber

Another Filipino with German ancestry is Hermann Gerhard Weber who was born and raised in the Philippines. He was a Mossimo alum, finishing runner-up to another sculpted god, Jerome Ortiz [from Cologne, Germany]. He studied to be a pilot but ended up in one of the call centers of Makati before joining bikini contests, ramp shows, and fashion commercial assignments.
