Last Kiss

After being selected as a Cinemalaya NETPAC entry and after its New York City premiere, Huling Halik [Last Kiss] will finally be shown in regular theaters tomorrow, Wednesday 7 March 2012 in Metro Manila. It is a story between college students in Baguio and how they learn to cope with heartbreak. Huling Halik, starring Joeffrey Javier [in photo] and Kenjie Garcia – will be shown starting tomorrow at Robinsons Galleria, Remar [Cubao], Isetann Recto, Gotesco Grand Central and Starmall Alabang.

The Year That Was: Indie Boys

Did you watch a gay indie movie this year? Although no one came close to the daring feat of one Marco Morales, a few boys stood out [and hard] from the dime-a-dozen pack. Some were coy. Others showed some balls, literally. A few went to great lengths, flashing their members. Of course, most of them showed their butts – all plump and juicy. Who was your favorite indie boy in 2011?

Huling Halik

Former Lips Bar draw and dick-a-day feature Joeffrey Javier moves a notch higher in his career as he topbills the movie Huling Halik [Last Kiss] for the Cinemalaya 2011 movie festival. Huling Halik is a story of two college students in Baguio as they learn about love, friendship and separation. Joining Joeffrey is Kenjie Garcia, international best actor winner for Ang Lihim ni Antonio. The Cinemalaya screenings of this emotional film are scheduled on:

20 July/Wed, 6:30 pm Greenbelt 3 – Cinema 5
22 July/Fri, 4:00 pm Greenbelt 3 – Cinema 3
23 July/Sat, 6:15 pm Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theatre)
The film is written and directed by newcomer Zig Dulay and is produced by Lex Bonife. Aside from Cinemalaya, Huling Halik is also slated for screening in the New York Hell’s Kitchen Film Festival this September, 2011.

I missed posting these photos before but just the same, I’m doing it now. It may be too late as Campus Crush, Crisaldo Pablo‘s latest movie before the much-maligned-title-of-a-movie Chub Chasers, has already been shown in gay-friendly Robinsons and Isetann malls. Who knows, the DVD or VCD versions might be out anytime soon, and maybe you can grab a copy to see former Lips regular Joeffrey Javier and cute newcomer Arjay Carreon bare everything on screen. How’s that?

Joeffrey Javier for Lips

I must admit i haven’t gone out in a while. I miss the interesting places where there are nekkid guys dancing or competing on stage. Like Lips Bar in San Juan, for example. I heard it changed its name to Ate Chin Chin, which is quirky and funny. A wee bit campier than “Lips Bar.” And then again, news went around that it closed most recently. I have not visited the place recently, and I’m guessing it must have gone out of business. Too bad, because it was the little bar that could – people went there for the out and out shows, where boys are loose and well, licentious. In photo is Joeffrey Javier, a Lips Bar regular. He competed in the bar’s numerous contests where the guys had to wear sheer fabrics and sometimes, nothing. Joeffrey also appeared in some straight-to-video flicks like Masahe: M2M. I wonder if Lips Bar is still open these days.

Emmanuel and Joeffrey

There is now a growing consciousness about Lips Bar – the little bar that could, located at 152 Aurora Blvd. cor. G. Reyes St., San Juan City, Metro Manila near the J. Ruiz station of LRT-2. Recently, a group of Filipino friends based in Chicago asked me to go with them to the place. They said they heard about this bar from friends in Manila. They were not disappointed when they watched the shows there. Photo above is Emmanuel Pontera [left] and Joeffrey Javier, recent contestants in a show organized in Lips Bar.

Who’s been had?

JV Roxas [left] and Joeffrey Javier

Familiar storyline: two guys, feeling exploited, approach the self-styled investigative shows on tv and do a tell-all. JV Roxas and Joeffrey Javier were on Channel 7’s Imbestigador last week, complaining about the insertion of footage [behind-the scenes] of their naked photo shoot for their direct-to-video Masahe M2M. The extra footage was supposedly added as a come-on for buyers of the instructional video. The thing is, the boys were shown being photographed au naturel. And they are complaining. I’m not so sure about this but I think GMA 7 has a competent Legal Division, Imbestigador has intelligent writers and segment producers, and the producers of Masahe M2M are just astute. This story falls under the “Things That Make You Go Hmm” section.
