Dutch-Filipino Stunner: Alec van Dierendonck

Alec van Dierendonck was born and raised in the Netherlands [Fact: The Netherlands is the European part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands which consists of the Netherlands, the Netherlands Antilles, and Aruba. The Netherlands is often called Holland. This is incorrect as the provinces of North and South Holland in the western Netherlands are only two of the country’s twelve provinces]. In 1996, then 16-year old Alec, who is half-Filipino and half-Dutch, moved to the Philippines for good. He first burst into the modeling world in 2004 when he joined the Mossimo Bikini Summit [won by Marco Grazzini] and the MTV Fashionista Model Search [won by Anthony Madden, Rocky Salumbides and AJ Winkler]. At present, he is under the management of CalCarrie’s Manila and Andrew’s Models [Kuala Lumpur]. At the recent Philippine Fashion Week [see photos above], this 6’3″-tall model, who is known for his professionalism and seriousness at work, still elicited a lot of silent sighs from the audience.

Dreamboat: Rei de Castro

Ronee Ray de Castro aka Rei de Castro is a 23-year old 6′-tall model of Mediatrix Modeling Agency. Last seen as one of the pre-pageant candidates of Mr. World-Philippines, Rei backed out at the last minute. The dusky stunner from Mandaluyong City, has also appeared in commercial spots on tv and print ads, and has been doing quite a number of ramp shows of late. Rei remains unfazed despite the nasty rumors about him, i.e. the garden variety of rumors surrounding a male model like cosmetic surgery [nose and chin], sexual preference, and wealthy benefactors.

Good morning Jayvee.

Twenty-two year old Engineering student Jayvee Cepeda is getting to be a regular in this blog, and how! He recently came out of recovery from a motorcycle accident, but now he is back and roaring, uh, raring to work. The regular chunka-hunka Bed-goer does modeling on the side, plus some stints in the Datu ng Maynila and Maharlikang Pilipino search, both all-male personality [read: bikini] contests.

Breakout: Jon Mullally

This would have to be our KitKat post, the let-us-take-a-break-from-careless-naked-boys moment. Jon Mullally is 6’1″ lean, trim and weighing 175 lbs. He used to be the Century Tuna Image Model, getting the deal after surviving a model search held in Boracay Islands last year. Jon was formerly a banker in London before moving here to do some modeling [I presume without being too cocky about it: Modeling is way more lucrative than say, banking.]. Jonathan Mullally, recently seen as the yellow-bikini-clad cover of gay Icon pulp, is half-Irish and half-Filipino.

Béton Brut: Labor Day Special

[l-r: Lester Quijano, Arnel Valencia, Anton Reyes,
Anthony Torres,Horace Rivera and Christian Medina]

Béton Brut literally means “concrete in the raw’, that is, concrete left in its natural state when the formwork is removed [The term gave the name Brutalism to the style of modern architecture in which exposed concrete is exploited as a feature]. It’s an architectural term that first came to mind when I saw these sweaty muscular young men in a construction area. Probably it was a stylist’s [and photog’s] fantasy to feature young men in scenes of figuration and erection, with all the contours, cuts and casts. Lovely, indeed.

Harold Hunk-a-lot

Cebu’s top male model is arguably Harold Dee. The half-Filipino, half-German Cebu native has been modeling for years in the Queen City, mostly for top brands and major designers in the region. Last year, he appeared in the Bench Fever underwear fashion show in Manila. Although he was a headturner in a sea of models at the Bench show, he was largely unknown to most Metro Manila fashion watchers. In Cebu, he is a member of the MAC [Models Association of Cebu], which most probably is the equivalent of the influential PMAP in Manila. Although Harold Dee is now 29 years old, he still does the rounds of ramp shows and major campaigns in Cebu. Easily the most-liked model there because of his good looks, bearing and proper attitude, not a few are wondering why Harold Dee has not invaded Manila’s savage modeling biz.

Andrew Wolff’s back…

Last seen in Boracay Island where most celebrities go during the Semana Santa, Andrew is back and still ripped and roaring. He was spotted in the company of native girls during his stay in the not-so-pristine-island, and no, he didn’t bring a girlfriend along. For a time, Andrew disappeared, said to be back in Birmingham, England to continue his studies. But now he is back in Manila, where he is much welcome, bad-boy image or queer-bait model that he is.

There’s something about Elmer

Frankly, he does look ordinary to me but there’s something about Dante Balboa, or Elmer Anisco, that makes him tick in the sex-o-meter. Dante Balboa was a former runway and print-ad model and member of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP). During his heyday, he was the Mr. Young Philippines and 2nd runner-up at the Manhunt Philippines search. For some unfathomable reason, he was named by showbiz writers as ‘educated hunk” and “brainy boldie.” It must be because of the fact that he majored in Architecture at the University of the Philippines aside from also attending special courses in Computer and Landscape Architecture, B.A. Film and Audio-Visual Communication and B.A. Philosophy at the State U. He was also an instructor on philosophy, language, and literature at Far Eastern University (FEU). Quite a feat for an actor who strip-bared in Seiko Films’ skin flicks of yore.

Deep-Dark: Ariel Morales

Ariel Morales is now 31 years old, a former ramp and commercial model and part-time stage actor. He grew up in Valenzuela City but graduated with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the Colegio del Sagrado in Iloilo City. He was discovered at the Boracay Bikini Open 1998, which subsequently paved the way for modeling assignments in Metro Manila. Aside from modeling, Ariel also went into theater, the most memorable of which were his portrayal of the national hero opposite Chinchin Gutierrez in Mi Ultimo Adios and in Lahi [Kami ay Pilipino] at the Centennial Show in Clark Expo Filipino.

Bruce Quebral goes to Slovenian Big Brother

The local edition of Big Brother recently announced on the show that on 19 April, “Basketball Hunk” Bruce Quebral will board a plane to Slovenia and room in with that country’s BB edition. Bruce, who knows nothing about the swap until he boards the plane, will be in Slovenia for a week. Methinks that would be awfully traumatic; imagine, of all horrors, being told that you will be thrown into where-the-heck-is-Slovenia when you are already on the airplane! According to the Slovenian Big Brother management, they selected Bruce for the inter-country swap [one Slovenian girl, Tina, will join Pinoy Big Brother] because of his good looks as there are not enough handsome guys in the BB house. Here’s hoping a more liberal Slovenian house will show Bruce in more ways we can imagine.
