Former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons [Men’s Basketball Team] member Benjamin “Benj” Bolivar is also one of the more notable contestants in the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011. The 5’10”-tall hunk used to play for the La Salle Greenhills Junior Archers and was once featured as an eligible bachelor in Cosmopolitan [Phils] magazine.
Twenty-two-year-old Ryan Briese may not be making some noise in the Touted-To-Win category of the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011, but he might just pull the rug from under the sandy feet of the heavy favorites on finals night. This hunk, of Filipino and German descent, earned the right to represent Palawan after winning the local contest a couple of months ago.
This Mossimo Bikini Summit batch is turning out to be a good one. Except for a couple of ugly guys, the boys in the contest look hot and fresh. The publicity photos didn’t just do them enough pictoric justice. One of the contestants who looks good – bone structure and all – is Charles Flores. And I don’t have enough info, too, about this one. Anyone?
At the 2007 Mossimo Bikini Summit, then 23-year-old Haroun Morales competed against a motley group of good looking boys, including a lean and mean Adrian Racho. Haroun and Adrian didn’t win, although the latter took home the Photogenic award. Undaunted, Haroun joined the Be Bench Model Search a year after and he landed first runner-up. He is now with ABS-CBN, appearing endlessly in bit – but rewarding – projects for the network. Haroun is still with ABS-CBN, working his ass off [no pun], slow and easy. And as for Racho, he’s still very much around after doing racy pics for a local gay rag. And what’s the point of this post. Nothing. Uh, two words, actually: casting couch.
For quite some time, 21-year-old aspiring singer and actor Dex Quindoza lingered in the sidelines, hoping for that one big break from his station GMA-7. That is because GMA-7 was the one which introduced him to relative fame via Starstruck, the reality tv search for new talents. He didn’t win that one and he went back to school in PMI Colleges somewhere in inner city Manila. And then he came back as one of the contestants in Mossimo Bikini Summit 2009. He didn’t win that one either, but he sure landed some projects. After a short-lived stint with the group YM, GMA-7 is reportedly taking him in again and will soon groom this young hunk for its soaps and shows.
He may not have won the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2009 title, but 23-year-old JR Tirona is unruffled. The 5’11”-tall model, who was one of the favorites in the competition, easily landed projects on the runway after the Mossimo stint. He did Bench and the Philippine Fashion Week, held recently at the Mall of Asia. When he’s not busy with modeling work, he’s at school taking up Law at San Beda. Or so I heard. And then again, he’s a smart sexy guy who lives in a big house in New Manila, Quezon City. How’s that for your male model?
Yesterday, cute guys Geron Lontoc [left] and JR Tirona, castoffs at the recent Mossimo Bikini Summit 2009, walked the runway for rival Bench Body underwear’s Philippine Fashion Week collection at the SMX Convention Hall of the Mall of Asia. The guys were hot and come-hither in their colored briefs. Although they were unjustly deprived of the major titles at the Mossimo competition, Geron and JR are undaunted as they pursue their modeling careers.
While we’re on the very pressing and vital national concern regarding racy amateur videos of prominent persons dished out in cyberspace, here’s another one concerning an up-and-coming model. A reader sent word [email] that Mossimo Bikini Summit 2009 second-runner-up Mark Manicad reportedly has a video akin to Paolo Serrano‘s choking-the-monkey romp on cam. This was reportedly done while the cute model was still a relative unknown, when he was still fond of, uh, chatting with people in the net.
.. his mom, who is sick right now. Nineteen-year-old Jiro Shirakawa snagged the Mossimo Bikini Summit title just last weekend, edging out the prominent contestants. He hopes that this win will open more doors for him in the modeling world, which is now his bread-and-butter as he has reportedly stopped going to school at the Philippine School of Business Administration [PSBA]. This Japanese-Filipino cutie has been previously featured in top magazines and publications, and has done the major fashion campaigns of Bench, Penshoppe and Mossimo. He says he wants to concentrate for now in modeling, as he has put school off temporarily. His mother, who has cancer, has accepted this decision of Jiro. Showbiz next? We’ll find out soon.
Not just because his name is a girl’s name, model Lemuelle “Lem” Pelayo is suspect. There are other instances – stories behind the runways and tvc shoots – when Lem acts rather off and strange. This 23-year-old former Hotel and Restaurant Management student of the Lyceum of the Philippines in Manila is a longshot for the Mossimo Bikini Summit title this Saturday at the Skydome of SM North EDSA. Not that it matters much but out of curiosity, is he or isn’t he? Anyone?
