The things I get in the mail! Reader rumpalstitskin sends in these images of Ron Morales during his Mossimo Bikini Summit days [circa 2007] and pre-Bench reality show, reminding us that back in the early days of the competition, the boys wore tight and gauzy white ‘kinis. Now, if only the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011 boys wore the same underwear. [*silent sigh]

While we’re on the topic of Mossimo, the 2009 Mossimo Bikini Summit was a merry mix of runners-up. The winner Jiro Shirakawa, of course, was expected as it was buzzed around even before the finals night then that he’d get the top prize. What was interesting was the proclamation of two first runners-up. Dancer Angelo Cacciatore [above] was declared first runner-up during the contest.
Model and varsity baller Geron Lontoc was not named as one of the runners-up during the contest. [He was reportedly seen bawling back stage right after the proclamation, as he was promised a slot in the winners circle]. A week after the finals night, in a post-pageant party Geron was subsequently proclaimed by the organizers as the first runner-up. Angelo was not present at that time. So that made two first runners-up in the competition.
1 and 2
The frontrunners in the Mossimo Bikini Summit Ecosomething contest are cute chinitos Renzie Ongkiko [top] and Nelson Banzuela. Renzie is a tv host, model, athlete and past winner of the Century Tuna Superbods competition. He has a degree in Mass Media from the De La Salle University [DLSU]. As for Nelson, who’s apparently new in the scene, any 411 on him guys?
Twenty-two-year-old Filipino-American student and model Judah Jyreh Cohen recently won the right to represent Cebu in the national finals of the Mossimo Bikini Summit, which will be held on 18 June 2011. The 6’2″-tall cutie bested pageant veterans, models and past Messrs. Cebu winners to move on to the finals. He’ll be in better under- and swimwear by then, of course.
Tonight, Cebu’s rockin’ with the finals of the Mr. and Ms. EcoTourism Philippines-The Mossimo Bikini Summit. The winners get to represent Cebu in the national finals on June 18 in Nasugbu, Batangas. Touted to win the major prizes are Mr. Cebu 2009 Kris Nimrod Cabigas [left] and poll favorite Jesse Cortes.
Mossimo Boys Then
The regulation bikini post today takes us back to 2007 when the year’s edition of the Mossimo Bikini Summit gathered together a motley group of sexy boys. The three cute chinitos in the contest were, from left: Haroun Morales a.k.a. Ron Morales, Kim Gantioqui and Zachi Uy. They didn’t win, unfortunately.
This is how 2007 Mossimo Bikini Summit winner Andrew Smith looks like now. Trim and toned. A far cry from his 2007 form when he was plump and pudgy. The 5’9″-tall Filipino-Australian hunk is now a tv and events host, aside from modeling in tv commercials on the side.
He used to be known as Marc Anthony Patiag when he competed in the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2006 won by a hunky Jerome Ortiz over the cute chinito Hermann Weber. Now, he is known as Marc Jacob, lead actor in the Cinemalaya movie Latak [Residue]. Twenty-two-year-old Marc was born in the Philippines but he grew up in Canada. Before Mossimo, he decided to take a break from college in Canada to come home and re-discover his roots. He has since stayed. Latak is his first movie, which will be shown from 18-24 November 2009 at the Robinsons Galleria. The trailer looks appealing in YouTube.
Harold the Dauntless
Boyish Harold Oide has come a long way from his Ginoong Pilipinas days when he was a fledgling model in Manila fresh from La Trinidad, Benguet. In the 2007 edition of Ginoong Pilipinas, he placed second to eventual winner Denver Olivarez. Then he joined the newly-resurrected Body Shots modeling competition in 2008. He didn’t win that one, though. That year, he was included as one of the 69 hot bachelors of Cosmopolitan [Phils] magazine. Recently, he was one of the chosen few who made it as one of the contestants in the Mossimo Bikini Summit. And, though we all know who won, the contest opened doors to this cute 21-year-old in the modeling world.
