Lazy

Richard Guebar lazes around on this slow Sunday afternoon.   I’m loving Sunday afternoons now. It’s the best day of the week to do nothing. After getting tired of the day’s tv fare,  I spent the hours sorting some photos for my posts this week.  Nothing exciting – just some ass here and a dick there, some shirtless guy here and a thong-clad one there. How did you spend your Sunday afternoon?

Darn.

This is your virtual summer fashion show: lots of straw hats, big beads and pieces of diaphanous fabric. Of course, you know where these images of daring guys were shot. Richard Guebar is there some where. The rest, I don’t know their names. But just the same, here’s a treat in these times when the rains come a-pourin’ late in the afternoons, as summer fades.

Richard Guebar in Sikil

In one of the scenes in the movie Sikil, one guy stands up from a jacuzzi in all his naked glory. That was one of the frontal-nudity scenes in the indie flick, which is having its week-long run now at the Robinsons Galleria IndieSine. That guy, who carelessly dangled his dong in front of the cam, is none other than Richard Guebar , a movie and tv bit player [he has done bit parts on GMA 7’s soaps and fantasy series].

Daydreaming Saturday

Model: Richard Guebar

I had a nutsy but fun Friday night at My Spoon [www.myspoonrestaurant.com] near the ABS-CBN studios. The place serves continental cuisine [with a former Via Mare Maitre’D in the kitchen], and later into the night, turns to a bar where there are sexy go-go boys and girls on the ledge. And so, after a hectic night, I’m setting off as a peaceful sloth on a Saturday morning – with nothing to do but ponder, wonder and letting my mind wander. I’m freeing myself from all the week’s worries – the stress of work, relationships, finances and global warming. Recent research indicates that daydreaming as a part of daily life is essential for maintaining equilibrium. Daydreaming, science has discovered, is an effective relaxation technique akin to meditation. It contributes to intellectual growth, increases the powers of concentration, and enhances the ability to interact and communicate with others. Further, daydreaming jump-started the successes and achievements of famous people. And so, I’m off to la-la land.

To V., I’ll Settle This With A Dickinson

After great pain, a formal feeling comes
Emily Dickinson

After great pain, a formal feeling comes –
The Nerves sit ceremonious, like Tombs –
The stiff Heart questions was it He, that bore,
And Yesterday, or Centuries before?
The Feet, mechanical, go round –
Of Ground, or Air, or Ought –
A Wooden way
Regardless grown,
A Quartz contentment, like a stone –
This is the Hour of Lead –
Remembered, if outlived,
As Freezing persons, recollect the Snow –
First – Chill – then Stupor – then the letting go —

I am fully aware you read this so-called blog, somewhere in the recesses of your offices, when everyone’s gone. Is it cold there? Let me start by stating that I had no strategy of sentiment. Apathy is not big in my dictionary, so pocket your thoughts on inadvertence or even dispassion on my part. Besides, you were not able to convey either. I am just wondering, Was it all about vulnerability you just did not wish then to express? But then again, you always let your guard down whenever we were together. Those were happy episodes [although I remember them now with a smile and a twitch somewhere]. The thing is, I am regretful. Stupidity is one of my greatest virtues. The philosophy of our self-styled relationship just made it difficult for me to express how I equitably felt. And as things stand now, I am helpless to reconstruct the mess of emotions and feelings left from that talk last night. This will be my last piece on the subject. Your books and shirts shall be sent to your office.

Waking Up Late on A Sunday

Aah, the joys of waking up late on a Sunday! No work and worries, just the ultimate revenge against the early-morning rising and rolling of weekdays. Time was when Sundays meant being roused from sleep early by the church bells [we used to live near the town church], and mother was in her usual booming self. It meant the church bells were not the only ones pealing. So naturally, as a good Catholic boy, we had to get up and go to mass with the family, then a hearty lunch and then siesta. It was a quiet life. But then again, everyone grows up and leaves the family home. And nothing more peaceful can come close to Sundays, living alone and in bed at 3 pm, with 16 missed calls from mother. Nothing as placid as the lingering and most trivial of banal facts: the sound of the tick-tocking clock on the night table, the eerie hum of the airconditioning unit, the dark and gloomy room, the scent of night juices. Or maybe, if you are lucky, a boy-stranger like Richard Guebar beside you. Shining-smiling, like it’s still Sunday morning.

More Richard Guebar

Richard Guebar has also been frequently requested here in the blog. This charming part-time actor and model is silently inching his way up the showbiz ladder, with minor appearances on TV and the movies. So far, I have not yet determined the title of his Europe-released porn film, which he did a few years back. In any case, should he get his 15 minutes of fame any time sooner, his stint in that xxx-rated flick and his spunky [pardon the term boys] photos in the past, would not really affect him much as he has been very candid about those. Here’s hoping he will get bigger projects soon.
