Over time, Zanjoe Marudo transformed from a fledgling bikini open contestant to one of television’s more recognizable faces. Although we miss his bikini-and-briefs-wearing days, Zanjoe’s still one hot specimen today. With the funny demeanor and that physique to match his body of work, Zanjoe is such a welcome bit of eye-candy these days on tv.
Here we go again. Guys with iPhones (or Android phones).
These are the boys who take pictures of themselves shirtless.
Most are famous in their own showbiz way. Except one notorious anonymous guy who loves
the naked selfie too much.
Selfie regular Ahron Villena
Vastly improving Albie Casino
Underwear model Enzo Pineda
Hunky moreno Fred Payawan
Lanky ex-underwear model Jason Abalos
Leading man John Lloyd Cruz
Gaunt Joseph Marco
Diminutive Rocco Nacino
TV comic and ex-model Zanjoe Marudo
Don’t mind the skewed tiles and impossible waistline,
the notorious yet anonymous guy is a hottie anyways.
Oh, Zanjoe in Star Wars boxer briefs! Imagine seeing your crush a.k.a. object of lust and desire in the locker room, nekkid in his geeky underpants. Will you get turned off easily? It doesn’t matter, if you ask me. You’ll throw away the ugly shorts anyways when
he’s DTF you do the deed.
A few years ago, a then fledgling model and ex-varsity player from San Sebastian College who went by the unique name of Zanjoe Marudo suddenly came into the exclusive models club of local brand Bench. The rest, of course, is history as Zanjoe made a huge leap into tv and the movies. He’s now one of the more recognizable faces in ABS-CBN’s stable of talents.
Long before the nudity-and-wrecking-ball visuals became a fad, Zanjoe Marudo was already rockin’ it years ago for the promo of Bench Fever, the 2006 version of the biennial underwear show of the local underwear company. He was hot then as he is now.
Here is how he looked like then, when his management agency still had no restrictions on wearing underwear [and gaudy clothing] in public.
It’s Cosmo Night later! The boys and the men are out to play for the girls. Of course, we’ll see the usual wet, sweaty bods on stage. Some may pull down their pants. Others will just have to be prissy with their jeans on. But just the same, it will be one wild night with all the half-naked men. Here are some moments in the past Cosmo Bachelors Bash that I remember.
The water gun was introduced in 2008, to douse the guys, including Bruce Quebral.
Many were surprised to see the transformation of singer Christian Bautista in 2010.
Actor Dennis Trillo first appeared in the Cosmo event in 2005 looking cute and hot.
Dingdong Dantes went nekkid on the cover of the magazine and he was the night’s star in 2007.
An unknown youngster by the name of Enchong Dee failed to elicit loud screams in 2006.
Newbie Jon Mullally was still a bit player in 2006, relegated to the fly-in models group.
Daring actor Marco Morales was the opening act in the 2007 edition.
Surprisingly, he didn’t pull his shorts down.
Actor Marco Alcaraz had his undies cut into pieces and threw them into the crowd.
In 2005, Will Devaughn boldly stepped out of his pants.
Zanjoe Marudo, then a fledgling model, also showed up in his underwear
at the 2005 edition [with Iago Raterta]
The now part is the one on the left. The image on the right was taken ages ago when Zanjoe Marudo was still allowed by his management team to wear briefs – however flowery and chintzy – in photo shoots. There’s not much difference, right? No visible rhinoplasty or facial surgeries. I thinks he’s getting and looking better these days.
Thursday came early for some throwback, a vintage photo of birthday boy Zanjoe courtesy of reader KK. Oh, this one’s better – Z in his tiny bikini for the 2001 Bodyshots modelling contest, back when he was a nobody from the boondocks. Look how far he has come!
It’s tv clown and ex-model Zanjoe Marudo‘s birthday today! He’s turning 30ish, I think. Since his management company has expressly forbidden him to wear underwear in public, I dug up some old photos of the guy when he still had the freedom to be seen in wild abandon [and in skivvies].
The director of Muli, D’Survivors and Daybreak, Adolfo Alix, Jr has another movie coming, and it looks promising. It’s called Kalayaan [probably referring to the Kalayaan group of islands or the Spratly Islands] with English title, Wildlife. Starring Zanjoe Marudo [left], Luis Alandy [right] and Laotian-Australian actor based in Thailand, Ananda Everingham [middle], the movie deals with the lonely lives of soldiers manning the Spratlys. It will be shown in the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in July.
