Don’t skip breakfast.

I have always skipped breakfast in the past – taking only the Model’s Diet of coffee and cigarettes in the morning in place of the heavy meal. Yet, upon reading the research by Yunsheng Ma, PhD, an epidemiologist at the University of Massachusetts Medical School – that, people who skip breakfast are four times more likely to be overweight or obese, I’m now into the full breakfast mode. I have settled on the Dessert For Breakfast Diet [sweet treats first thing in the morning], and its basic components are complex carbohydrates, fiber and protein, along with good fats – all things that digest slowly, enough to stave off hunger until lunchtime. These don’t include processed carbohydrates (donuts, white bread, sugary cereals, etc.) that digest quickly and tend to trigger an endless sugar snack cycle. The bonuses in this diet are the micronutrients [components of fresh fruits and vegetables that have antioxidant properties]. So I am now having more cereals, dairy and of course, fruits for breakfast, just like what 22-year old freelance model John Brian Austria is doing in the photo above.

  1. John Brian …. also dont forget your berries (especially blueberries and cranberries)nuts (like whole unsalted almonds) and orange coloured fruits (like papayas, apricots. nectarines) I have heard that cherries are good too. Kudos to you for inspiring people on a healthy diet.
