The Man in the Lighthouse

Many readers got clocked up asking me more about the new member of Provoq, Harry Chua. All I can give the angry mob though was the 411 on the guy winning Heatwave Bikini Open and nothing more. It’s a grand thing Lex Bonife emailed me more info and images of the cute chinito. Apparently, Harry Chua will now carry the screen name Harry Laurel, and he will play the lead in Viva Entertainment’s newest gay full-length feature called “Ang Lalake Sa Parola” [The Man in the Lighthouse]. Lex Bonife wrote the Screenplay and it is directed by tv and film director Joselito Altarejos.

According to Lex, the film will be released in August, 2007, and despite of it having “several scenes with frontal nudity, close up of an erected male sex organ and graphic sex scenes” it has been approved WITHOUT CUTS by the MTRCB for video release.

Here’s the synopsis of the movie: A homo-erotic journey in finding one’s true self Mateo (Harry Laurel) has been searching for his father (Richard Quan) who left when he was five. His search leads him to Lobo, Batangas only to discover that his father is in Dubai. Awaiting his father’s return, Mateo works as the caretaker of Lobo’s lighthouse. Here, he meets Jerome (Justin de Leon), a gay man from the city. What ensues soon after the meeting is the beginning of his homoerotic journey, while Suzet (Jennifer Lee), Mateo’s girlfriend struggles for his love and attention. What begins as a search for one’s father evolves into a search for one’s self. Will Mateo, in the midst of his conservative rural community, cross the thin line between being straight and being gay? This story is a search for oneself as seen through the lens of rural homosexuality, myths, and fairies (superstitions/belief?); and the lies that people create to escape the bitter realities of life.

Incidentally, tickets are fast disappearing for the Cruise show of the Men of Provoq. Cruise, a Provocative Tour is a gay party highlighted by a series of sexually charged production numbers from the Men of Provoq. The party is on August 10, 2007 at the NBC Tent. Show Starts at 9pm. VIP tickets entitle one to a free drink and entrance to a specially designated area right by the stage for the best view of the show. VIP ticket holders can also drink and interact with the Provoq Men right after the show. VIP tickets are at Php1500 and are not commercially available.
