The Brothers Harman

Brothers Mark [standing] and Sean Harman are trying their luck in Philippine showbiz. Born to a Filipino mother and New Zealander father, Mark [20 years old] and Sean [18 years old] both stand 6′-tall. Sean is a waiter back in Brisbane while Mark is a chef. If I’m not mistaken, Sean’s using the name “Sean Oh” for GMA 7’s afternoon series, Daisy Siete: Prince Charming and the Seven Maids. The boys have signed up for GMA 7 projects.

  1. This comment has nothing to do with the Harman hrothers although they are also mestizos. But I think our showbiz producers and networks (both rivals) are trying to revive the times when our standard of beauty was Caucasian, or at least, mestizas and mestizos. During the late ’60s and ’70s, they called this “colonial mentality.”

The likes of Nora Aunor (morena), Vilma Santos (chinita), Lito Lapid (moreno), Cesar Montano (moreno), Diether Ocampo (chinito),and others seem to have changed that. But now, every batch of Star Magic and Pinoy Big Brother edition is full of mestizas and mestizos. Now, even GMA-7 is getting “imports.”

  2. ganyan man talaga ang showbiz

first pag may look ka pasok ka

then magka project (example jon avial of kapitan boom))

pero c meztizong actor walang talent

    so last project nya yun

    yun lang yun.

kasi talent and charisma (bankability) ang staying power ng
    mundong showbiz.

  4. to anonymous: that’s showbusiness, colonial mentality is our culture, and we can’t change that, unless a lot of dark skinned beautiful and talented Filipinos will emerged this century, but with all the whitening cream and stuff? i doubt it.

And Harman brothers, werk it guys, you gotta werk!!! obviously you are just pretty boys, your bodies are not even toned. what is that picture??? Werk!

  5. i have nothing against the caucasian look per se, but there is super saturation of it on our print and media that it distorts on how we see ourselves as pinoy. why do you think that nose-jobs and skin whitening products are very lucrative businesses in this country?

  6. You, Anonymous (May 21, 2008 1:42 AM), !)#!%&%$!@! How could you say that of our idol, the one and only Superstar Miss Nora Aunor.

La Aunor is an artist and you cannot pigeonhole the life and moods of an artist.

Obviously, you don’t watch the movies about artists (Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Picasso, the other painters and great singers and actors).

She’s our unnamed National Artist, much deprived of the title because the guys who pick the awardees would rather name non-artists or artistic midgets like Daisy Avellana, Andrea Veneracion, Jose Joya, some big-name couturier and stage designer (amigos, mare!), and so many others.

And regarding Nora Aunor, genuine artist ang lola.

If you ask me, bonafide rock star si Ate Guy. No, make that punk rock star dahil sa pagbasag niya sa stereotypes at pagiging anti-establishment niya.

  9. lol. sorry to interupt your whole discussion. but this whole topic is quite funny. these days now they are pretty much getting mestizos from ibang bansa to be artista, yeh thats awesome, but how can u get more viewers if they have no experience to act? .lol oh well, by the way imma filipina in australia. im the ex girlfriend of seano harman, used to live with him in australia. he obviously pursued his career with acting thats what made us seperated, i should be totally against it. But GMA will sumday lose potential wen they recruit the wrong peope. Yeh it might have a large amout of viewers at the moment, because all they showing to the audience is ALL FALSE information about the actors. i read this biography about them it makes me laugh cause its all not true. great work guys ! hahaha correct me if im wrong, but it is their job to give false information in order attract more viewers ….
