Boards Down!

The PRFU Volcanoes had a good run along EDSA. Yesterday the three ginormous billboards were taken down by the city government for being “offensive and inappropriate.” The orders came from the Mandaluyong city mayor, who made it clear that he’s not conservative and the main reason was that he received a lot of complaints, including those of the bachelor mayor of Valenzuela City. The boards will reportedly be replaced with more appropriate images of half-naked women. In photos: Filipino-Australian members Nicholas Perry [top] and Terrence Carrol.

  1. Good. Bench is pushing the limits in the wrong direction. Kids being exposed to this filth is destroying their innocense far too early. Bench says it’s promoting the sport rugby. Please then why show the bulges of these players. Can’t they crop the pics to just show the products without including the bulges. And why are these players agreeing to be exploited this way. They have not even made a name for themselves yet and they do these photospreads. Are they advertising themselves to potential girlfriends or sugardaddies? Prove yourselves first as great rugby players. Don’t take the easy way to make money and have fame by taking your clothes off because it makes you pathetic.

So unfair!

  5. savor the things while it lasts..ahehe… buti nalang at na post na d2 ilang mga pix ng VOLACNOES! let the issue simmer down at mawawala and mag ish at approve na ulit ..aheheh

parang mga dvd sa quiapo, sana ung suki ko ng mga m2m indie at porn an dun pa..aheheheh..after ng campaign ni mayor lim

  6. Good riddance. Manila is so ugly already and even uglier with these giant billboards. Instead of beautiful buildings and trees it has these freaking giant billboards everywhere. No zoning, no planning, no limit. It is very third-world ugly.

  7. so what do you suggest kung briefs ang ilalagay sa mga billboards along EDSA? nakapantalon silang lahat tapos nakalagay sa ulo ang briefs.

  8. for that person who just said that these rugby players have to prove themselves first in their chosen sports field, they’re actually more successful than the azkals. go search it up.

and how can you crop the picture to not include the bulges if they’re advertising underwear? ano yun, garter lang ang ipapakita?

your post just goes to show how ignorant you are.

Friends, may suggestion ako.

Tapos RD, maybe you can COPY and PASTE the comments TO AN ACTUAL ENTRY?

Then we can share that entry.

Just so these people know na PUTANGINA TAMA NA YANG DISKRIMINASYON NA YAN.

:”> terrence! mukhang malaki! 🙂

  11. @Anon 7/8 6:34AM. The product is the underwear. Men have bulges in their underwear. Mostly. Cropping to show the product is nigh impossible. It’s like having a bra advertisement and complaining about the breasts therein. This is called a double-standard.

Bench has done equally risque ads before – both men and women – and this is the first time this brouhaha emerged. Methinks some politicians are just riding on the publicity generated by this campaign which, admittedly, is probably the one that has generated excellent buzz across the city.

If the mayor is serious about “morality,” then he should also have the billboard of the woman in a bikini just right before Guadalupe coming from Makati. Alas, it is still there. This is nothing more than publicity-grabbing.

Besides, bulges are a reality in men’s underwear. Pretending they don’t exist to “protect kids’ innocence” is backwards’ thinking; let’s just stop them from watching half-naked women in cartoons and comics these days, why don’t we?

  15. Oh, I take it back. Di pala ipokrito. Tanga lang yung naligaw. Third comment.

  16. I wonder why itinago at pina-side si Nicholas Perry. Mas bulgy pa siguro kay Terrence. Haawwwt!

  17. Mayor Gatchalian should lock his pamangkins in a convent. Or pluck their eyes out to preserve their innoncence.

  18. Anonymous6:34am: Are you sure about what you are saying???? “Can’t they crop the pics to just show the products without including the bulges?”

How pathetic! Bobang to!

  20. I hope ben chan has learned his lesson. I’m sure the next time we see billboards of studs just wearing briefs the bulges will not be included. Kids are not supposed to see these out in public. To adults who want to see half naked men you know where to look to get your fix. Don’t include kids in your carnal need for flesh. Be responsible adults to kids. They look up to us for guidance.

  21. Mas bibilib na sana ako kung ang irereplace nila e mga WHOLESOME ads,e mga babae pala ang gusto ipalagay.tsk tsk!kaya lalo tumataas crime rate ng RAPE sa atin e,from tabloids to billboards susmaryosep.

  23. Good riddance to bad advertising. I hope ben chan has learned his lesson. I’m sure the next time we see bench billboards of studs in briefs, the bulges will not be included. Kids must not be exposed to this kind of advertising out in public. To adults who like seeing half naked men, you know where to go to get your fix. Do not include kids in your carnal desire for the flesh. Kids are easily influenced by what they see. You were kids once remember. They look up to us for guidance. Be resposible adults especially in public and infront of children.

  33. Good. Bench is pushing the limits in the wrong direction. Kids being exposed to this filth is destroying their innocense far too early. Bench says it’s promoting the sport rugby. HIPOKRITA KANG BAKLA KA. MAGPAKATOTOO KA NGA PWEDE?

PS. WALANG BULGES SA BILLBOARDS NAPHOTOSHOP NA. HINDI KA LANG HIPOKRITA, BULAG KA PA. CHE.

  34. How very third world. Congratulations Philippines, once again you have proven how backward and archaic your ways of thinking are. IMO those pictures are artistic, those poses are in no way provocative. it’s up to a person if he or she sees malice in them or not. If they see malice, then the fault is with them and not with those billboards.

  35. Hay nako magreklamo tayo kay PNOY! sa tanda nyang yan wala pa ring asawa there’s a good chance na kabaro natin sya mga ateh! o kay TITA MAR na lang kaya, mas matutulungan siguro tayo dahil proven na syang closeta!

  38. Let’s buy the Bench calendars. To support PRFU. Wag lang puro pagpapantasya. Let’s really throw our support at them.

Sweetie (yes, you, the single commenter who posted multiple times), you may be misled that the issue here is about “filth” or “destruction of innocence”. That’s the political giftwrapping handmade for gullible kinsfolk. Look deeper. Did you say “good riddance” to your critical thinking as well?

The issue here is selective morality. How can these politicians cite these men in undergarment as offensive when women with blaring cleavages and plump buns are prolific? The women’s titties and booties bulge. How is that so different (aside from the anatomical standpoint, pun intended) from the men’s crotch bulges?

Sherwin Gatchalian is the worst especially when he recounts how his niece’s eyes are covered seeing these men in the billboards. Is her eyes covered too when she sees women objectified on ads? What message does it convey to the little girl? Did you bother to ask that to yourself, Sherwin when you decided to be all self-righteously moralistic?

Selective morality isn’t half moral. It’s full and complete bullshit, if you ask me.

  40. To comment #3:
what a pathetic comment coming from a homosexual! If what you say is true, then how come the billboards of women in their underwear are still where they are! That mayor who dismantled the billboards is a showcase that most of us are still narrow-minded, and that definitely includes YOU!! You’re one of those who keeps us from becoming a nation of thinking people. One bit of advise sister: Use that organ inside your head and if its non-existent, then better keep your hands off of this site and keep your opinions to yourself.

  44. this country is full of hypocrites. the rest are prudes whose perspectives belong in the 19th century.

yan ba anf morality mo Mayor?

  51. To the person who said that bench is pushing the limits… I you should think before you react. Its underwear ad it is only obvious that there would be bulges. Even the Ken doll has bulges and I don’t get why you are so fixated with it maybe you just have a case of dick envy. It was by all means taste fully done. An artwork only becomes filth with those of a malicious mind. The only “filth” that I think the kids are exposed to are the ignorant and biased opinions like yours. Children are smart you just need to explain it to them.
And secondly the players are mostly mixed race who spend their own hard earned money to represent our country. They have given our country medals and honor which is sadly more than can be said of you.It is only right that we do something to help them out and I applaud Bench for featuring them in a spotlight.

  52. I wonder why these Mayors and old hags in our society gets easily affected by pictures of guys(and/or girls) in undies, they say its inappropriate for children to see, but what’s more inappropriate is the way they put malice into these billboards, its their malicious minds that is dangerous to children… sana lang matuto sila tumingin sa mga ganitong images with real maturity! naturingan public servants imbes na sila ang mag-guide sa tao na huwag magbigay ng masyadong malisya e sila pa ang nangungunang magisip ng masama! kakahiya kayo!!!

  53. Eh, nasaan ba ang Mental Hospital at Correctional? Eh di ba nasa City of Mandaluyong?

Sorry ha, Kung maglinis kasi sila kala mo Kung sino. Pwe!

  55. Grabe I don’t see the point kung bakit kailangan tangalin.

Malaswa?

  56. To those who say that there are lots of things that government officials should be doing rather than pulling down billboards of men in briefs in a high-traffic area like Guadalupe, you have to understand that issues like corruption, poverty, drugs, etc., you have to understand that for those with power, you start changing those things that you can. It doesn’t take overnight to change the country but YES, you can have a billboard removed given that there had been a significant number of complaints.

Paolo Abrera raised a point earlier in ANC and he said he didn’t want his daughter having posters of these men (or any other men for that matter) in briefs inside her room. I totally get his point. The billboard deprives parents of the chance to filter the images that their children (minors) can be exposed to. They can monitor what they watch, they can monitor what they read, but something that they pass by everyday in EDSA, how can they control that?

To the guy who said that it was tastefully done, says who? You? Pornography is subjective. What may be malaswa to you may not be to me or to someone else. YES, I get the point that BENCH is endorsing briefs, and YES, I get the point that the Volcanoes deserve the limelight, but seriously, does it follow that underwear ads should always have bulges? Let’s admit it, more than endorsing the brand, the ad also wanted to highlight the men’s amazing physiques. Hanes has been endorsing undies for decades now but you don’t really see them having billboards of men in skimpy briefs. This is a strategy of Bench. I’m not saying that it’s wrong, I’m just saying that’s how they do it. They showcase the bodies as well as the products.

I have to admit, I enjoyed seeing those men there. But fact is, I’m not the only person who passes by the billboard. A lot others do and they take offense. Morality is subjective. Just because you enjoy seeing something, it doesn’t mean it should be at the expense of others.

Regarding putting billboards of women there, that’s an entirely different story. Morality is selective and subjective. We should always be sensitive as well to how others perceive the things we perceive.

And lastly, I really hate it when gay people put someone down for being gay. Say Mayor Sherwin is gay, does it make him less of a person? The society finds it hard to fully understand the homosexual community because sometimes, we discriminate amongst ourselves. Check what you are doing before you talk about hypocrisy.

  57. One big, fat case of Double Standard.

Put up a woman in bra and panties, no objections from public officials.

But a man in an artistic pose, not suggesting anything erotic, and it’s indecent.

    Ka-cheapan talaga!

Lastly, that Sherwin Gatchalian. No denying he’s got a gay face. Pls lang.

  58. TANGINANG MGA MAYOR YAN MAHILIG UMEKSENA KABOBOHAN NAMAN ANG MGA GINAGAWA. OFFENSIVE PAG LALAKI OK LANG PAG BABAE WAHAHHAHA!!! IDIOTS!!!

-MAGANDANG BASAHIN ANG REACTION MO PARANG TOTOO KASI INGLES PERO KUNG SUSURIIN NAMAN PAREHO KA LANG NG MGA MAYOR NA YAN PURO KAYO BOBO. 1) SABI MO THEY HAVE NOT EVEN MADE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES YET THEY DO THESE PHOTOSPREADS…… KUNG SINO KA MANG BOBO KA KAYA NGA GINAGAWA YAN PARA MAGKAPANGALAN STUPID. PARA MAGKARON NG FANS IDIOT. SA TINGIN MO BA ANG AZKALS SUMIKAT DAHIL SA GALING NILA MAGLARO? MAGISIP KA TANGA KAYA SILA SUMIKAT DAHIL MGA GWAPO SILA KAYA NAGKARON NG FANS STUPID. KAYA TAMA ANG BENCH NA SABIHING PINOPROMOTE NILA ANG RUGBY DAHIL KAPAG SUMIKAT ANG MGA PLAYERS NA YAN KAKAMBAL NITO ANG SPORT NA NILALARO NILA. MARKETING STRATEGY TAWAG DYAN BOBO!!!

  62. Good riddance. Manila is so ugly already and even uglier with these giant billboards. Instead of beautiful buildings and trees it has these freaking giant billboards everywhere. No zoning, no planning, no limit. It is very third-world ugly.
    ….

eh gaga ka pala eh. third world ugly ba kamo?

  64. lumakas daw ang sales nung calendar after this brouhaha. well thanks na rin kay sister sherwin, ben chan is laughing all the way to the bank. at nagkaroon din ng funding ang philippine volcanoes. thanks sister sherwin, bukod tangi ka talaga. bukod tangi ka.

  69. “eh gaga ka pala eh. third world ugly ba kamo? Anonymous July 8, 2011 8:13 AM is right. In the cities you mentioned, billboards have to have permits and are monitored. They are only allowed in certain parts of the city, actually very small part of the city. The size and the materials used must be of certain specifications. The billboards in the Philippines are third world quality. They are ugly monstrocities that contribute to uglify the metropolis. The poster is right also about no planning, no zoning, no material standards and no limits in the Philippines. In the Philippines it is all about money. Many people are making lots of money on this billboard business. As a businessman I travel to different countries often and Manila is no beauty, and I have to agree with the poster about how ugly these billboards are. Manila is even more third-world ugly because of the billboards. Instead of beautiful structures, gardens and trees, we have these ugly monster billboards. They are also very dangerous structures during typhoons. Remember Milenyo? More than twenty billboards toppled at that time and the government said they were going to clean-up the billboards. Of course nothing came out of that government pronouncement. This is a corrupt country and money talks. Know your facts.

  71. To Benj:

I don’t want to honor your arguments with a reaction because your case is as flawed as it can be.

You counter your own arguments like how a dog would run after its tail.

You lay down all these points of yours and couple them with examples but in the latter part you strip them off of all validity by concluding that everything is subjective.

If you easily brand all these concepts as subjective, then what exactly is your stand? Did you have one that you really believed in before you went into these or are you just collating opinions of other people you watch in the media and passing them off as your own?

Sweetie, have some balls first to pick a stand and be firm on your resolve. If you can’t do that, everything you posted here would just be beautiful, hollow English that resonates with nothing. Think on that, dear.

  72. Anonymous July 8, 2011 8:13 AM is right. In the cities you mentioned, billboards have to have permits and are monitored. I do know my facts duh. hoy bakla tumigil ka dahil ikaw ang walang alam. after milenyo meron na pong zoning laws sa manila. bigger billboards can be found all over the world at sa major thoroughfares din. who cares kung businessman ka? ako i travel all over the world for leisure and not just for business. baka magulantang ka lang kapag ibalandra ko sa pagmumukha mo all the places i’ve visited around the world showing giant billboards sa high traffic areas. kung sa china eh natural kontrolado ang mga nilalabas sa billboards. but to say yung mga billboards dito ay third world na third world, pwede ba mag ikot ikot ka sa US at england walang pinagkaiba sa mga billboards dito no. mas malalaki pa, mas risque pa, at nakadisplay rin sa high traffic areas which makes your third world argument very moot indeed.

  73. alam nyo, masyadong praning ang pinoy regarding kids(even adults) seeing nudity, its a dangerous thing you know, alam nyo kung ano dapat matutunan natin lahat? yung idifferentiate ang nudity sa sex! kasi makakita lang ng hubad, sex agad naiisip natin, and we dare call our nation conservative, e Pinoy kaya pinakaBASTOS na tao sa Mundo! kung meron dapat alisin, yung mga politikong nangungrakot, madaming kabit, malaswang mag-isip, lumalabag sa karapatang pantao, nangdidirty finger, at nanapak dahil sa galit! dahil mas nakakadiring tingnan mga pagmumukha nila! mas nakakasuka sila, MALASWA!!! MALASWA!!!

    -Mommy D.

  74. THEY ARE MY FAVORITES THEY ARE VERY YOUNG BUT THEY ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST ONES…NICK PERRY IS 6’5″ WHILE TERRY CARROL IS 6’2″…….SARAP DILAAAN

  75. to Benj, yeah, you’re right, subjective ang morality, kaya nga may laws na nag-gogovern sa ating lahat dahil iba-iba tayo ng definition ng morality, and with that, its clear as day na wala naman nilabag na law ang billboards, none of the guys’ genitals was shown, and the bulges? only confirm na lalaki ang model, otherwise boobs ang makikita natin, I don’t understand why the morality(or Hippocracy) of some should dictate the morality of a whole, kung ganyan ang susundin, de dapat lahat ng billboards showing women in sexy poses e tanggalin dahil it’s offensive to women and our muslim brothers!!! and what if a group, find people showing teeth, hands or feet as immoral, should billboards showing those be taken down as well? since reason mo na subjective ang morality, di dapat pagbigyan din sila, alam mo, point is, people will find offense, malice, immoral etc in everything, everywhere, its how you handle your responses that show how developed and matured you are as an individual, if you say kids get affected by this, well dumaan ka ba sa pagkabata? kids usually follow what the adults around them are doing, and if you show malice in looking at these images, then they will look at it the same way… and Kids should be protected from parents like Paolo Abrera! he’s a chauvenist! what’s wrong with girls looking at these pics? pero pag boys ang tumitingin sa pics ng naked women, ichicheer pa di ba? besides, he once did a commercial for san miguel with a subliminal message promoting alcoholism and promiscuity! like duh!

  76. to Anonymous July 9, 2011 11:36 AM, I think more than the actual Billboards, its what’s in them that is being debated, I agree that these billboards pose some danger to pedestrians, and may also be a cause of accidents and traffic, but this is for another topic, what’s in contention here is the double standard of morality here in the country, you may say manila is cheap and ugly compared to other Cities in the world, but I’d rather it be cheap and ugly, but progressing as far as thinking is concerned, but sadly, even in the simple judgement of what is obscene or not, majority of its people are as backwards as one can be… very SAD!

  77. To those who said that I am contradicting my statement, let me clarify that I stand by what I said that MORALITY IS INDEED SUBJECTIVE. Say you don’t find it pornographic, say you find it as hard, however, those people who think otherwise took their stand against it. For that reason, the billboards were removed. Tell me, those who are in favor to have those billboards stay there, with the exception of course of Bench and its affiliates, do you think there were any civilians who came up to the local government and said, “Hey, we appreciate having it there. Please let it stay.” Again, I did not say it’s pornographic. What I sad was morality is subjective and those who believed that the billboards were pornographic acted against having them there.

To the person who said “I don’t get why the morality of some should dictate the morality of the whole.”, that’s hasty generalization my friend. How sure are you that your moral stand of the matter is really the moral stand of the majority and that yours are being trampled by this act of removing the billboards. Those who requested to have them removed felt that there was a certain damage on their part. What was the damage to you when it was removed? Because at the end of the day, it always roots back to damages.

And, if I may add, I did say that having women there in their bikinis is no different. Please, read the entire entry before you react because clearly, your letting what’s between your legs think than what’s between your ears.

^^to benj: I’m just reacting to this part of your long and boring statements. You say “you start changing those things that you can” Sister I really think that you should have thought a million times over before putting these words. We can change corruption, poverty, drugs, etc., its just that we don’t want to start acting on it, napaka-simple sana ng mga problemang to kung gugustuhin lang nating ayusin. And you say there’s been a significant number of complaints, again sister, millions of our countrymen have complained about poverty and corruption and if people in power start acting on these then we’ll see a significant change in our lives. I’m really dismayed over your nonsense statements ‘coz its full of crap, and you had the gall to post this where majority of the comments are against the billboard-removing action? Expect a barrage of nasty replies against you because there’ll be plenty more to come, that’s an assurance.

  79. over nga sa OA ang reaction nyang mga against sa billboards. vahket gumanda ba ang buhay nila nung mabaklas ang mga yan ha at super saya nila? hinde! nananatili pa rin silang mga dukha at tigang as always! che!

  80. i watched an interview of a person probably in authority as to who decides the putting up of billboards in edsa in teleradyo… funny reasoning… they said “ano ba yan ang laki ng umbok sa crotch area” ahahaha anong gusto nila maski lalaki e puke na din ang nasa brief!!!!! ahahaha

  81. hey Benj, 3 points, I am not led by what’s between my legs! as a matter of fact, I have never seen those Billboards, the pics, yes, in this site, so them being there or not does not affect me at all! 2nd, I read everything you wrote, and you never said anything about billboards showing women should be removed as well, but lets just pretend you did, ok? But you did say in your last post that billboards of women in bikinis is no different, so if you feel that way, how come you aren’t seeing the point of a lot of people here that there seem to be a double standard when it comes to morality because the billboards showing women are still there? Don’t you think you’re contradicting yourself with your statements? Lastly, you asked me what damge did it bring me when those billboards were taken down, well I ask you, what exactly was the damage that you were saying that these billboards did to these people? Did it burn their eyes? Did they see any change in their chidren? Did it increase the level of immorality of filipinos? Cause all I heard them say was it was inappropriate for children, so what damage are you talking about? if they, as what they say, care about the welfare of children in this country, the first thing that they should do is alleviate hunger and poverty, do you think a child who’s hungry, would feel lust over those images? and now that those billboards are gone, did it improve the morality of people? Are we more decent now? if you say yes, then you better wake up! hirap kasi sa atin, we are always after the quick fixes, we dont really think outside of the box, because these MORONS in government, do not allow us to! and to answer your question, there was no actual damage done on me, however, the minute they took down those billboards, they already insulted not only mine, but everybody else’s intellect, including yours!
Please Benj, don’t try to be a smartass by trying to be on their side, you very well know that their so called selective morality(it was you who said that!) was being a little too selective against gays, and if you’re alright with that, I pity you, not only your intellect, which is a major contradiction, but also your sense of pride, we are in a democracy after all, yet you allow people to trample on whatlittle freedom gays have in this country by allowing other people to dictate what we could and could not see just because it doesn’t suit them. I know freedom is not infinite, and limit has to be imposed, that’s why we have rules, laws, regulations governing everything we do, and uulitin ko lang, these billboards, as clear as day, has not broken any LAW on decency dahil di sila nagpakita ng genitals, there was no sexuality depicted, and no sexual insinuations at all, well, at least for me there was none. I don’t know about you and other malicious people, but as far as the ad board is concerned, the pics were tastefully done and have been approved.

  82. This is a message board. You post here what you have in mind. Be it against or in favor of what the majority of the posters think, it doesn’t count because it is not a prerequisite.

To he who said that poverty, drugs, and corruption are easy problems to solve, what do you suggest that the government do about these things? It is very easy for people on your part to always blame the government because your thoughts and actions do not affect the majority. And please, for every cent that we get blaming the government, I do hope we provide alternatives and not just just point our fingers to a body who doesn’t really have time to check what this blog says.

Lastly, about the guy who said there wasn’t any damage on the part of those who requested to have them removed, how sure are you? Damage can be anything that caused someone inconvenience or discomfort on his part. Parents complain that it deprives them of the right to screen what their children can see. That is considered damage my friend. And before you mention the law, look it up first. As for the gravity of the damage, let the court decide. If you are not familiar with how it works, let me educate you. Should Bench, or any supporters of this billboard decide to come up and file a case against the city government who had it removed, it will go to court and the law will decide whether the damage was more on those who put it up or those who requested to have it removed. Most probably, a class suit will be filed.

To this same person, you said the damage was the intellectual insult on the people, including me, I’m sorry but you speak for yourself ’cause there was no damage done on my part.

You don’t get the point of my post. You said it yourself, this is a democratic country and those who feel that it is pornograhic have all the right to complain and have it removed. The initial action is always on the side of those files the complaint, hence, the billboards were removed. Those who are in favor of it have all the right to go to court and file a case if they think that it should be kept there. But, not until the court decides, it will remain off the billboards.

  86. Benj, I just hope you’re aware that with your long replies and everything, its just making a fool out your self. Like the last reply here, no one seems to take interest reading your novel-like long answers because its nonsense and its pointless.
Can’t you take a hint that we’re against the removal of the said billboards simply because its one-sided/unfair?

  87. I live in Los Angeles so I know that billboards of this kind can only be seen in West Hollywood, not all over metro LA. Remember Weho is an incorporated city like Beverly Hills, Glendale, Burbank, and are all outside the city of Los Angeles.

Another thing, last I heard the Philippines is still a democratic country where the majority rules. I believe there were more citizens who wanted the billboards removed than those in favor of keeping it. Suggestive billboards do not affect me one way or the other. However I abide by the rule of law.

Lastly, attacking the messengers thru character assassination is the lowest of the low. Stop acting like spoiled brats. Being a minority group in catholic Philippines your chance of winning a morality fight is nil.

  88. Benj, its pointless to debate against you who’s a big contradiction! yeah we are in a democracy and since they have succeeded in having those removed, I guess we’re just here to excercise our democratic right to express our opinions! e ikaw? why are you here, you keep on insisting we’re wrong, what do you get out of this ba? ikaw mismo nagsabi na morality is subjective, and if so, why can’t you respect our opinions?! di naman ikaw si Mayor Gatchalian at Abalos to react on their behalf! pati ba disgust namin pakialaman mo pa? di ba kami pwede umangal? and mali ba ang umangal? you clearly know no laws and don’t educate me dahil baka mapahiya ka lang. you know what really happened, all it took Gatchalian was a single phone call and alas! the billboards were gone! you find that fair and legal?

  89. dun sa nagsabing in democracy the majority rules, saang dictionary mo nabasa yun? pano kung 8 out of 10 ang magsabing tama ang pumatay, ibig sabihin tama nga? baka mas tamang term e human rights/freedom rule, majority is never synonymous with fair, just, right or correct… di ibig sabihin na mas maraming nagsasabing yun ang tama e yun na nga ang totoong tama.

Bye bye. Do not come back!

  93. Benj is back to fuel your hatred. First, I’m not the Anonymous guy from LA who said something about stopping the bashing. Thanks to your post though. I do agree and it is much appreciated. I’m too proud of my thoughts to not make a credit.

Second, for all those who have time, read my previous posts. I never said that you guys here are wrong. What I said was those who had it removed have the right to complain.

Lastly, seriously, if I don’t make sense and that my comments are so long no one’s reading them, why do some of you take so much effort reading my posts and reacting.

Admit it guys, whether you agree or disagree with my stand, my posts make you think and formulate a stand of your own.

For a change, it’s not all about “This actor is gay and I had him and he cost this much money.”

With that, I rest my case with the billboard issue. I did serve my purpose.

  94. By the way, to Mr. Anonymous whop quoted these words:

“you clearly know no laws and don’t educate me dahil baka mapahiya ka lang. you know what really happened, all it took Gatchalian was a single phone call and alas! the billboards were gone! you find that fair and legal?”

I chew on the law everyday at work. Knowing the law is what I do for a living so you might wanna take a stepback on that comment.

Under the Civil Code, a billboard is a nuisance because it:

    1. Injures or endangers the health or safety of others; or
    2. Annoys or offends the senses; or
    3. Shocks, defies, or disregards decency or morality; or
    4. Obstructs or interferes with the free passage of any public highway or street, or any body of water; or
    5. Hinders or impairs the use of property.

The local Building Official is required to initiate a remedy against a public nuisance, including:

    1. A prosecution under the Penal Code or any local ordinance; or
    2. A civil action; or
    3. Abatement, without judicial proceedings.

In turn, the mayor is required to commence a civil action brought by reason of the maintenance of a public nuisance

  95. hay Benj, feelingero ka masyado, palibhasa nilalangaw yang blog mo, kaya dito ka nangugulo, bakit di ka dun sa blog mo magtatatalak ng ganyan? pano kasi wala bumabasa! anyway, sa last comment mo, inamin mo na rin ang “REAL” purpose mo kaya post ka ng post dito, na isa ka lang malaking “KSP”, kakaawa ka naman, trying hard ka masyado, at kahit magmukha kang tanga, ok lang sa yo, para lang mapansin ka… we don’t need your posts for us to make our stand on this matter, I believe we’ve been expressing them way ahead of your posts… the only purpose you served here is prove to us that the education system in the philippines is in MAJOR need of reform.

  96. Benj, ayan ka na naman with all your bullsh*t, lalo ka lang ngmumukhang PATHETIC jan sa pinagsasasabi mo, you said you deal with laws for a living, then you should have at least heard of the term, DUE PROCESS… if the said billboards are indeed a nuisance, then a 15 day grace period for the advertisers to tear them down should have been given, but it wasn’t. and with the circumstances you mentioned, the alleged billboards would only be subject under 2 categories, number 2 & 3… which according to your previous yacks is SUBJECTIVE. and if I may just reiterate, morality being subjective shouldn’t always go to the agrieved parties, because again, anyone can just find fault or immoral in anything anywhere, and for the billboards to be taken down without any due process or deliberations whether it is really obscene or not is just far from being fair and legal… I just find it amusing that your work exposes you to laws on a daily basis, kasi it really doesn’t show on your posts, no offense but you seem to really have no clue about it. and by the way, NICE work on that research, glad you have the time to search that up and copy paste it here. GOOD JOB Benj!

  97. “Benj Guevarra said…
Benj is back to fuel your hatred. First, I’m not the Anonymous guy from LA who said something about stopping the bashing.”

-hahaha, wala naman sinabing si anonymous guy from LA ah, basta sabi lang anonymous! hahaha, GUILTY MUCH? hahahaha

  98. haha patawa naman si ate benj, she deals with laws on a daily basis daw, pero tingnan nyo sa profile nya, ang industry nya ay turismo at ang trabaho nya ay isa syang bum! haha, ano ba talaga ateng? saan part dun yung nagdedeal ka sa laws? baka naman kasi puro kaso ka kaya nagdedeal ka nga sa mga batas! hahahaha!!! para wag ka magmukhang katawa-tawa, shut-up na!

  99. Benj i visited your blog. Walang kalatoy latoy, walang kakwenta kwenta, and as expected wala ring kasense sense. I need the 30 minutes of my life back.

  100. eh gaga rin naman kasi kayo obvious namang kulang sa pansin at nagpapapansin lang yang benj na yan to drive traffic to his cheap and low class blog. kayo naman kumagat, hook line and sinker!

imbes na dada kayo ng dada, buy na lang ng calendar to show your support noh! don’t tell me 69 pesos lang namamahalan pa kayo? mga puritang parlorista!
