It will be a busy October date as two Johnron-in-the-lead movies get shown during the month. The gay sex comedy Kape Barako will be opening this Wednesday [5 October 2011] with Johnron as the coffe shop owner. Written by Lex Bonife, the film is about a struggling coffee shop that became an instant hit among gay men due to its unique barako coffee concoctions. Directed by Monti Parungao, it will open at Robinsons Galleria, Starmall Alabang, Remar [Cubao], Roben [Manila], Grand Central Caloocan, Isettan Recto and Ultra Vistarama Cebu.
Kubli is the story of friendship between Raffy [Johnron Tañada] and Marco [Eugene Tejada] which begins in childhood. The two are separated for many years, and their unspoken passion has long been buried deep, until their reunion in their hometown ignites a moment of intimacy. In exchange of this is the shocking revelation of Raffy’s long-time kept secret — his passionate affection for best friend Marco. In the end, the longest journey of his emotional suffering from holding on will wind up in a different level — when his love finally becomes unconditional. From Golden Pot Film Productions, Kubli also stars other indie actors [and former dick-a-day features] Dustin Jose and Jeremy Ian. Produced by movie columnist Ronald Rafer, written and directed by Paul Singh Cudail, the movie opens on Wednesday [12 October 2011] in Robinsons Galeria, Isetann Recto, Remar Cubao, Starmall Alabang, Roben Manila, Gotesco Grand Central Caloocan, Marketplace Kalentong, and Eden Cinema Cebu.
