It’s JB Saliba’s time to shine at the Mister World finals. Currently held in Manila, the sausagefest is surely heating up this early with the boys in Bench/Body undies for the *gasp, swimwear competition. VPLs are a must.
I always thought Filipino-Lebanese Ameen Sardouk is going to romp off with the Mr. World Phils 2018 title. He eventually settled for first runner-up, and I guess beauty contests these days are more of the rocket-science types: answer the questions like a genius and you win the top plum.
The top prizes went to Filipino-Italian dude Marco Poli (8) who won Mister Supranational Phils and to varsity athlete JB Saliba (14) who took home Mister World Phils honors. All is fair, bulges and bodies notwithstanding.
Beauty contests provide the platform for world peace and other noble causes. They do not just exploit the women and men in various states of swimwearness. Most of the time, the contestants move on to worthier causes, like modeling. Rein Villareal (Phils) and Fernando Alvarez (Puerto Rico) competed against each other at the Mister International contest a year ago. Today, they are blazing through the local modeling scene as, uh, top models.
We always love a beautiful man in our shores. That is why Puerto Rican model Fernando Alvarez is well appreciated in this side of the pond. We also love titles and his being Mister Puerto Rico, Puerto Best Male Model, Mr. International 2016 Top 10 semifinalist and Mister World 2016 1st runner-up are cherries on the sundae.
