Mr. Supranational

It’s the season of beauty contests, and 22-year-old AR de la Serna is off to another underwear-and-tux show in Poland for the Mr. Supranational contest. These are the before-and-after photos, and the image on the left was taken four years ago when barely-legal AR was just emerging from all the baby fat. These days, he’s a hottie.

Man of the Year

And just like that, some people in Indonesia declared our Mister Philippines, Karanjit Singhdole, the ultimate dude of the year. Which means he lords over the world as the epitome of masculinity in the race of man. As tribute to that wonderful win, here are some of my favorite photos of the guy, back when he was blazing through the bikini open circuit. Of course, my favorite is when he was candidate no. 40.

Bumper Crop

The main purpose of male personality contests, aside from, of course, fostering world peace, alleviating poverty, and raising awareness for HIV that is timely and relevant to our country, is to show off boys in racy-frilly speedos.  Recently, a Mr. Philippines contest was held, and they had seven winners. Their names and fancy titles are as follows (l-r): Kian Sumague of San Pablo City (Mr. Tourism World), Jason Martin of Queensland, Australia (Mr. Worldwide), Christian Lumasag of Cebu City (Best Global Model of the Year), main winner Andrea Biondo of Vittoria, Italy (Mister Universal Ambassador), Job Abogado of Camarines Sur (Mr. Model International), Paul Renzo Velo of London (Mr. Tourism International), and Mark Joshua Marquez of Rome, Italy (Mr. Teen International). Who do you like?

Police/Pool Man

It’s quite a treat if the man-in-swim-shorts feature has more to offer. Aside from the notable physical attributes, like decent abs, nice chest, strong legs, and other naughty bits, Mr. Philippines-International Don McGyver Cochico  (yes, that’s his name, and yes, they still hold male contests like this), is also a police officer determined to make this world a safe and better place. He’s doing a good job at “better place” in those Speedos.

Misters for our sisters

NeilOur favorite police officer Mariano Flormata, Jr. is now in Seoul to compete in the Mister International pageant.  Of course, he has a huge chance of getting the title, whatever that will mean to the Filipino people. As for me, it would mean more images of the sexy guy in speedos and tiny undergarments! I can’t wait!

AdamDavies AdamDavies2While no one was looking late last year, Mariano’s cute runner-up in the Mister Philippines pageant, Adam Davies went to the Dominican Republic to compete in the Mister Model International 2014. Yes, bulges and cream! Our bet didn’t get left behind as he brought with him the goods! He ended up 3rd runner-up or something, and I guess that is a good thing.

Oh Mariano!

Of course, he won. Police office Mariano Flormata Jr., a.k.a. Neil Perez  won the title Mr. International-Philippines at a recently held contest of virile young men. He’s off to Seoul, South Korea for the Mr. International pageant next month. Okay, bring in the cops-in-erotica fantasies! I’m thinking boots and handcuffs, badges and bulges!

All eyes are on the representative of the Filipino community in Australia in this year’s Mister Philippines contest. Twenty-two-year-old Onakee dela Cruz moved to Oz when he was 14, and now he’s back to compete for the top prize – as the country’s rep in the Mister International 2014 competition. The 5’7″-tall cutie is a dancer, singer and actor Down Under.

Adorable Michael Koegel

Twenty-one-year-old Michael Koegel first appeared in the local scene when he won as first-runner-up at the Mister Philippines 2007 contest [title went to Porlayagan].  Born to a Filipina mother and a German father, Michael Koegel was also the Philippine-Europe Supermodel 2007 winner. Together with his sister, they came home to compete in the local beauty and modeling contests. He has since stayed to do work for runway, print and tv commercial projects.

Ian Porlayan fails to compete at the Mister International pageant

Remember the farmer from Nueva Ecija who surprised everyone at the first Mister Philippines pageant by winning the top plum – earning the right to represent the country in the Mister International contest? Ian Leonel Porlayagan, however, failed to attend and compete at the Mister International contest in Malaysia [a Brazilian won the pageant, held on New Year’s Eve]. Apparently, the organizers did not have enough money to finance the trip of Ian Porlayagan to nearby pageant site, Kuching. It must be remembered that the organizers of Mister Philippines also failed to send Michael Raymond Lim [as winner of ExpoWorld-Phils] to the Mister ExpoWorld contest in Guatemala City last year. Instead, Ginoong Pilipinas runner-up Joseph Pallera competed in the Mister ExpoWorld pageant in the Guatemalan capital. Incidentally, the Mister ExpoWorld pageant will be held in the Philippines this year.
